The oil life monitor is just a timer to remind you to service your car. Just change your engine oil every 5k and you'll be fine. Bunch of worrywarts in here.
I ditched the harness that came with the kit and just harvested the wire loom. Thanks to @Vtec87pr1, I spent $30 on an F-150 headlight switch, enabled fog lights in FORScan, and added a couple pins to the BCM connector. This way the install looks factory on the inside. Stock looking switch, dash...
I've lived in NJ, NC, and AZ, and have never personally heard of anyone ever being pulled over for having fog lights on at the same time as high beams, let alone being fined for it. With the amount of clowns I see driving down the interstate every morning on my way to work, blinding everyone...
Here's an example video of the illumination to expect when these fog lights are installed and adjusted correctly. I've seen lots of photos of the installation process and the final result on the car, but I haven't seen any examples of how well they actually work on the road.
I used an F-150...
Using an impact wrench on correctly torqued wheel nuts won't "shred" any "bolts". That nut was cross-threaded and rammed home at the factory. That, or the roadside tech used the wrong socket and rounded off the nut.
I don't plan on using the backlights in the diode dynamics fog lights, which is why I drew the diagram up with only one wire powering the lights. I suppose if I wanted to use the backlights, I could hook them up to the parking light circuit. I don't like using wire taps though, so I like the...
Thanks! That makes perfect sense. There's something kind of satisfying about modules that you can just swap in and out, like the headlight control, to add functionality. I imagine it streamlines the manufacturing process too.
I just got the Diode Dynamics kit and an F-150 headlight switch in the mail yesterday. I plan on installing this weekend. I was just going to mount a small toggle switch in the blank space on the right side of the headlight switch module until I saw this thread, which is why I got the F-150...
I noticed something similar the other day. I think what happened was I came to a stop in the garage and the automatic engine shutdown kicked in before I had a chance to shift into park. When I did shift into park, the engine restarted and shut off again as I turned the key off. If you do it all...
It sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions there. At the very least, you should go back to your dealer and demand compensation in the form of a detailer's hourly wage times times how long you spent doing the job, plus materials and rental fees for the use of your driveway space. It just...
You know dealers have detail departments, right? Why would you go out of your way to "add value" to your trade in if the value added is for the benefit of the dealer, and not you?
The fluid color and fine metal filings on the magnet look pretty normal to me. I don't see any chunks. Has anyone done a lubricity test to determine if their fluid has in fact broken down, or are we just making assumptions based on the color?
