I did the $10 eBay key from China too. Works perfectly. Taking a good picture of your key is the most difficult part since I kept getting reflections off the shiny metal. Took less than 2 weeks arrive and I'm glad to have gotten one since I've accidently locked the driver's door with my keys...
Try adjusting the input gain, dial #6 on the Rockville wiring diagram. Mine didn't shut off either at first, but after adjusting the gain it started working fine.
Per the instructions: "after you've installed your system, turn this control to minimum. Turn the head unit on (subwoofer will turn...
Door panels are mainly held on with screws and come off easy when pulled from the bottom of the panel. Door speakers I used fit in the factory holes using the factory screws and harnesses. Very easy swap. No need for baffles or foam in my opinion, and probably no room for them.
The rears...
The PowerBass OE65C-FD tweeters I used fit in the factory mounts and used the factory plugs. I didn't order them from Crutchfield, but other MTC posts had said they were direct replacements and they fit perfectly for me.
The Rockville sub already had a 15 amp fuse on its control panel so I didn't add another one. I just wired the power straight to the battery and the ground to the factory ground point. The sub turns on when it senses current from the speaker taps and turns off when no speaker current is present.
Warm day today, so I set EQ settings to "flat" in Forscan. While I was in there, I also changed the settings for the rear speakers from "woofer only" to "woofer and tweeter" since that was an option. To my ears, there was no difference in the sound or sound level from any of these changes...
If you're doing the rears, you might consider tapping the speaker wires back there for a subwoofer in case you decide to add one later. Alot eaiser than having to dissasemble everything again.
Door panels come off fairly easy (once you remove the bolts and screws). Just pull/pry from the bottom. The few door clips that are left after the fasteners are removed are robust, so I doubt you will break them. The only real weak points I found were in the panels where the rear speakers are...
I just ordered the same for my truck and haven't even installed it yet. Got it from:
https://vinylimagination.com/pages/automotive/vehicle-main.php?make=Ford&model=Maverick&year=2022
Came well packaged and looks like nice, high quality vinyl. Lots of color options as well; I went with silver...
No, I didn't run a remote wire. The Rockville sub has a speaker level remote turn on so I just wired straight to the battery and factory ground point for power and when it senses voltage to the speakers it turns on the amp.
On the hybrid there's a factory ground point about 8" above the butterfly bracket and the 12v battery in the hybrid is under the rear seat so also very easy to access.
I'm not sure about the signals because everything is loomed with a rodent resistant covering that's hard to cut through or...
I'd say the upgrade is a 20% improvement in volume. I used to listen with the dial set at 13 or 14 and now it's more like 11 or 12. The improvement in sound quality is much greater than the sound volume. But if you only do 1 upgrade do the subwoofer or door speakers.
I used my points for a drop in bed liner. I also have the factory molded mats in my Expedition and I like the rubbery texture and high sides of these mats better. Not sure about the Ford, but the rear Auovo mat is also one piece and in my Expedition it's two.
I mounted it in the back because I wasn't sure I was going to use or keep it and it was one less thing to do. And I can see it and use it fine from the driver's seat.
Two-sided tape. If you feel under the rear seat, there's a nice indent right in front of the battery box and the control unit fits there perfectly. The control unit adjusts the sub volume and has a blue led power light so I can see if the amp is on or off from the front seat.
The sound on my 2024 XL Hybrid was way better than expected, and it seemed to be loosening up even more as I used it (currently 2,000 miles). But, not being able to leave anything alone, I decided to upgrade the speakers and add a subwoofer which it seemed to need. Based on lots of previous...
