haha idk if I'm that desperate yet. Just got like 33mpg on a road trip down 1.. that's pretty damn good.
Thanks! Agreed on the lugs. The junction box as as an extensible entry gland. There also isn't really room in the roof for all that stuff.
Awesome!! Yeah with this one panel I never...
Sadly I think the weight will keep me at 1 panel. I have a feeling 200w will suffice as well but we'll see! I'm heading out for a trip now so I'll give updates. I thought about using the thin flexible panels but heard they are really poorly built and aren't very resilient especially for the...
Hello! I don't know if any of you remember this build, but I had been posting videos here a while back. Life got pretty hairy and working on the camper became more therapeutic than hobby. I just didn't have the capacity to make videos there for a while but I'm ramping back into it. Here is the...
Yep that is pretty much my exact setup! Although I believe wiring can change between models and model years, so I'm curious to know if there are any consequences for my particular setup. Not sure if any of the load pins are used for that fuse on your truck.
So they don't update the online manual?
Is it okay to tap into a micro3 fuse if one of the load pins is being used? I added an add-a-circuit system which I assume just keeps the old system as is with the old fuse and connects the load pin to the new system. Would it matter at all if any of the...
I'm trying to tap into accessory power and am having trouble reading the manuals to tell which fuses are okay to tap into. The owners manual says fuse 1 and 2 are completely unused:
But my service manual says fuse 1 is used:
How do I make sense of this? Is it still okay to tap into this...
No worries! I don't think this has been asked yet. I just put this down on top of the weather strip that came from factory (probably from getting the tonneau cover) as well as a bit more of my own on the sides. I am assuming the water will collect and drain down under the black bed side caps and...
I attached the ball studs to the strut, then attached the ball studs to the rails of my extrusion with bolts and t-nuts. I then tightened one stud and compressed the strut with a ratchet strap bringing the other end closer. Once at the desired length I tightened the bolts on the other ball stud.
That would be awesome, this is a very interesting idea. Could you elaborate on your idea for the design though? The motors would assist in closing only and allow the struts to handle opening? Or they would also help with opening? What mechanism would allow the motors to help open and close the...
With this being my first major project like this, I'm glad THAT is the only thing you find concerning hahaha
It's definitely not the best setup, but I always record in the thinking chair.
Thanks!
Gosh idk, it's hard to say. Probably around $8k if I count all the mistakes I made and prototyping I had to do to figure out how to get these walls to work...
I'm pretty much done right now and I think I'm probably sitting at around $8k. I've calculated all of the major receipts I...
haha I was just telling my buddy, the FIRST thing I should have built for this project was a large canvas awning over my driveway to block the sun and heat... now it's too late. I'll be done soon and it's not worth it
In this video I installed some gas struts so the roof can open and close on its own while also pulling the somewhat heavy hard insulated walls open. I used aluminum flat bar and some steel marine hinges to attach the walls to the roof. I also saved a family of ducks in the process
😁 Hope you...
I'm building a camper for my hybrid and am looking to snag an Ecoflow Delta 2 but noticed something interesting about the potential setup. If I buy an Ecoflow Delta 2, in the future I would like to add an inverter to charge off of the car (ideally fast charging when driving between...
Thank you all for the advice and input! I have decided to just shorten the doors by an inch to make room for the hinges. Only took me like a day or two of milling and I think it will save a lot of potential headache down the road. I don't want to risk anything rusting out when it isn't too much...
Great call out, yes that is left exposed right now but if I end up lowering the door frame (and unscrewing the tailgate hinges) I'll make sure that hole is exposed! Definitely forgot about that! Or I'll mill out a hole big enough for the wrench behind the cab seats.
confuse no more, see the bottom of the frame for the doors. For context, my doors don't fit into this frame by an inch so it would be nice to be able to lower that bottom piece rather than having to cut and mill the doors :(
You can check out the posts in my profile to see more discussion but here's my YouTube playlist.
Videos are slow going for now, working on a process where my sister will help me edit. I suck at it and she's a film major lol
Oh lmao was very confused by that first message @Hunters Edge I know how to take the tailgate off, I'm trying to make room for the camper. Think truck canopy shells that have barn doors, I'm doing that.
@fossil yea I'm wondering if it's not the best idea to expose the primer... might be worth...
