Instead of spending hundreds for the bed rail system that Ford sells, I went to Home Depot and spent less than $14 to put two of these in.
It's an M8 bolt and a medium duty D ring.
Caveat: it's only anchored on one side.
But for what I need, it'll do just fine.
I haven't been active here because I just haven't had much to contribute lately so I didn't want to simply spam the forum. But I've hit the 2500 mile marker and had the truck for about seven months now so I wanted to provide a more long term outlook on the truck.
First, anyone who says it can't...
I hit this milestone recently.
And I did it on two tanks of gas.
The Maverick is still doing a good job of what I bought it to do. It's a good truck for hauling supplies for my business. I've had the bed fully loaded a few times but there's never been an issue about me not having enough space...
I'll just repeat what the woman who saw me load up my Maverick with supplies said.
"It's clear who definitely doesn't have any compensation issues here."
I crossed the 500 mile threshold recently and have now spent almost 18 hours in the truck. I've gotten a good feel for it and how it's going to fit my needs.
This truck provides me with what I need and it does so well. The glitch with the clock that I mentioned seems to have been solved as...
As you can see, I've gone 100 miles and around four and a half hours in the truck. The first 22 miles were for dealer prep and the test drive.
Thus far, the truck has been everything I wanted from it. It is good at what I bought it for. The bed is large enough for me to do my three time a...
So far, everything has been good with my Maverick except for one little quirk. I got the truck last Wednesday and put it to use. Then on Friday, when I went to do a supply run, the clock had reset. I set the clock to the correct time and wondered if it would reset again between Friday and today...
Here it is.
The process at Mossy was smooth. They gave me the MSRP and didn't mess around with an ADM. When I told them I heard some dealers were doing that they said they knew how mad I would be if I showed up and they told me the price of the truck was more than they showed me back in...
I get the throwback nostalgia with the Maverick name. But what if Ford resurrected another nameplate from its past? Specifically, the F-100?
Because this F-100 is one sexy beast.
This was on the lot at Mossy Ford in Pacific Beach. I saw it when I was coming back from the beach today and decided to stop in.
They let me take a look inside. Overall impressions:
The interior looks plenty roomy. I didn't sit in it, but I'm confident there will be plenty of space for my...
I want to thank everyone who posted about negative dealer experiences. Thanks to you, I have sent the following email to my dealer:
Thank you for handling order B014, which was placed on August 13, 2021 for a Maverick XL, so well. I have read on the Maverick Truck Club forum about many dealers...
Interesting comparison. They talk a lot about the creature comforts of the Maverick and how back in the early 2000s, comfort wasn't an important consideration. It was all about hauling things.
"The truck actually is that good. It’s small enough for easy maneuverability, and yet there’s tons of usable space, both in the folding tonneau-covered bed and the back seat. The Ford is very practically laid out, with nice touches such as the little extensions in the panels for pulling the...
be grateful that you aren't in Japan waiting for a Toyota Land Cruiser. Those folks will have to wait four years. That is ridiculous!

Toyota Land Cruiser customers in Japan face four-year wait
Motor industry giant Toyota has warned customers in Japan...
I got this text today.
Looks like they think they have people who will pay more than $5K in order to buy a Maverick when it's first available.
If they can get it, more power to them.
And no, I'm not interested in doing it at all.
Edited to add: it's from the actual dealer but...
