Right at 1,000 miles, freeway driving yesterday, got 29.7. That was with the cruise set for 75 the whole way, with the exception of having to either slow down and speed up for traffic/passing.

You might want to just direct wire it up to your battery. Here is a decent video with some options. Just make sure you use heavy enough wiring, and place in both a disconnect and a fuse on the circuit.
