Yes, Ford did it. I think I posted about it earlier in this thread but basically they couldn’t adjust front camber unless aftermarket bolts were used. They said they think eventually the springs would compress a little and the positive camber would slowly fix itself. <not sure about that unless...
Hey, sorry. Been a little swamped with life stuff lately. I STILL haven’t had the adj camber bolts installed yet… I’ve put on about 1500 miles since the Eibach install and as far as eyeballing the tires, the positive front camber has reduced slightly over time. Thus, I’ve been debating if it’s...
As far as performance, mpg is 22.5 with new 235/70/17 AT tires and the lift. My drive time to/from work is about 50% city/50% hwy. I averaged 24 mpg all stock before.
I’ve had them on for about 500 miles now. I really like them! It will definitely be a “tighter” feel similar but imo smoother than a Tacoma. Still haven’t swapped front camber bolts but those ARE needed for Eibach kit. It’s barely noticeable but me/Ford service noted a positive camber.
Overall I...
For sure! Here’s the bolts, it’s easy to understand how the middle bump would adjust it left/right, but I don’t understand how it stays in place. Seems like the only thing that “locks” it in place is the teeth on the washer.
Quick lane only compressed the strut for me and replaced the springs. $60 to compress/replace the front springs. Then I returned home and put it all back on the truck.
The alignment was $100 at Ford dealer, but I just bought adjustable camber bolts from STEEDA and I may have Ford install as...
They are not adjustable. The only way I could even guess on how to make very minor adjustments are: 1) not putting the strut top bolt on as far down as stock (kinda sketchy) and 2) using slightly thinner rubber mounting blocks for rear (also sketchy)
It definitely is noticeable walking past the front. I understand that they were going with a neutral color but I agree with you. From other chats I’ve looked at it seems that Eibach might be investigating an option that maintains rake.
No problem! Good luck, it’ll be a nice proof of 100% DIY for others since I failed there…
I went ahead and bought the Eibach bolts through STEEDA so I’ll give an update on that when they get in.
Update: Had Ford do my alignment after new tires and lift were complete. The camber on front tires looks a little too positive and the tech confirmed my suspicion. He said it’d be negligible on tire wear but I’ll be purchasing either the SPC or Eibach adjustable camber bolt to correct this. (See...
I used the basic macpherson kit from Oreilly’s rental program. I couldn’t get it to grab the farthest ring of the spring on either side; just slightly too short. So from where it could attach tightening it until the spring was fully compressed (mainly just the middle “belly” of the spring) it...
I learned some things along the way too.. the back springs provide extra “length” which is easy to see, but the front springs provide extra stiffness. So essentially the front is lifted by less “sag” when it is weighed down, vs the stock which has more give. It drives more like a Tacoma now.
It’s very close to level. On the front I made sure the struts were threaded down the same as the stock ones were. (Counted the threads before undoing haha)
