i did, finally! still getting everything dialed in and tuned up, but itās leaps and bounds better than the stock setup.
iām just running the front speakers through the key for now, but iād like to eventually replace the rears and amplify those as well.
iām not super stoked with the ākicker EQā...
so: 9-way speed wire from the stock harness to the LC2i, RCA from the main output jacks to the key, and bass output to the sub (via the kicker KISL RCA-to-speaker adapter). 9-way back out from the key to the stock harness speaker outs.
power to 3-way distribution block, which feeds the LC2i...
the kicker sub needs power from the battery, or from a distro block connected to the battery. itās actually REALLY easy to run the power cable through the firewall thanks to the well-placed grommet in the driverās side footwell.
this is how i have mine set up, only i have the LC2i and the key mounted (along with distro blocks) on some ABS behind the seats. the hideawayās under the back seat in the passenger side. i wanted everything to be easily accessible so i can tweak the settings if/when needed.
i ran the power...
i went with the infinity reference RF-6532IX. theyāre coax, not components, because this is my first car audio project and i was nervous about mounting the tweeters. i may put some in eventually but these are sounding pretty sweet so far.
THANK YOU for this. mine are a little gappy at the top after putting them back on; will try this tonight.
any tricks to getting the a-pillar back on? both of mine are kind of flopping down from the top and iām not sure what i did wrong. clips are in fine, but thereās a wider tab in the center...
yeah, if itās not too much work, iād like to do some baseline recordings of the sound from the speaker-level inputs to the hideaway and compare it once the LC2i is installed. i have a decent mic and made some recordings of the stock systemāiām not an audio engineer by any means, but i thought...
sooo good!
hey, thanks a lot for your original postāit gave me the confidence to do this myself (after I got a quote for $500+ just in labor to make the upgrades I want).
this week I'm replacing the front speakers, adding an LC2i, key 200.4, and the 8" hideaway. I won't be running the hideaway...
this is exactly what iāve been looking forāthanks for posting. iām excited to hear how the rest of the install goes, and how you like the sub. iām having the same one put in next week with an LC2i. now iām thinking i may pick up a set of component speakers for the front and have them put in at...
sheās here!! love this truck. already washed it just so i could admire it up close.
more photos coming after tires tomorrow (235/65/17 BFG trail terrains).
ah, gotcha. i wondered if youād gotten the DORA and tracked it down on the railcar itself (per this thread: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/%F0%9F%A7%AD-maverick-build-tracking-links.2882/). iām gonna bug my dealer for mine; fingers crossed that itās getting close!
