    Thanks. I've tried pushing down on it, I've tried pulling the strap out as I close it, closing it without holding the strap...no matter what I've tried, there's still up and down play.

    I'm reviving this thread because my seat bench (bottom) has play up and down, too. The seat back is securely locked in place, so that's not the cause. Is this how they all are? I'm wondering how safe this is for our granddaughter's car seat.
