  1. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

It was actually a very roomy and comfortable car. At 6'3, I was never cramped.
  2. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

For sure. That's the crazy thing about being a parent, though. The what-if's now are not the what-if's of later, and you want both.
  3. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

I appreciate the candor here. It's all perspective, I suppose. To the other commenter, I'd rather be paralyzed than risk a serious injury to my kid.
  4. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

You clearly know what you're talking about, and I have a lot of what-if's having gone through it. I would ask, though, is it an okay outcome had their been my kid behind me? Is this one of those calculated risks or whatever?
  5. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

I have no idea. It's completely fair that it could be any car that does this, but I definitely can't drive one again. For now I'm driving my kid's old 2005 Malibu Maxx and trying to sort it out. Wife wants to move to a Subaru or something with better mileage. She's only getting about 21-22...
  6. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

For sure. I think the worst part was losing something so specific that we waited so long for.
  7. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

It could definitely be an over reaction, but the trauma from the experience and knowing my kid could have been there, I wouldn't ever feel safe. It could definitely be the same in any car. It's more around the articles I came across when looking into this. Ford seemed to be the biggest offender...
  8. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

I will add: We could not raise either seat back up when trying to retrieve items from under the rear seat. Electric on my side was working for forwards and backwards, but not the recline.
  9. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

Unfortunately it's in the possession of State Farm, and no idea where. I only had a couple minutes to snap those photos while grabbing stuff at the tow yard.
  10. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

Totally valid question. 6'3, 325. Wife, however, weights about 155.
  11. Seat Collapse in Accident - Follow Up

Hey friends. This is a follow-up to my previous post here. I wanted to start a new thread for visibility. Back story: Owner of a '23 Lariat Tremor. I was on a 2 lane road at a traffic light, waiting to turn left with my signal on and yielding to traffic. Speed limit is 45. My wife was in the...
  12. Tremor down...but a question about the seats.

She was likely going right around 45, but hard to say definitively. Witnesses said no indication of braking. Truly this. I was ready to replace it until I realized what happened. On top of that, our only current vehicle is a Bronco Sport, so....doesn't feel good riding in it with the kids and...
  13. Tremor down...but a question about the seats.

I definitely meant the driver and front passenger seats collapsed backwards.
  14. Tremor down...but a question about the seats.

I'd really love to post photos, but I'm concerned about where this will be headed. The moment I can, I'll make a new post with them. I'll tell you this, though, my headrest almost completely came out as well and there's blood from the back of my head on the rear seat, exactly where my oldest...
  15. Tremor down...but a question about the seats.

Rear-ended at a light waiting to turn. Think she hit us about 45mph square on. Here's my question: has anyone had a high speed rear impact where airbags didn't deploy and the front seats fell flat? Holding off on pics for now as it just happened and we're working through insurance.
  16. DIY tailgate tiedown that works with tailgate assist strut

This is really rad, and I wish it was readily available or I knew how to make one. Not to crap on your amazing work, but for others looking for a less awesome and cheap fix, I found these on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WQT248F?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 Downside is, they...
