I agree completely. Went with the smaller 235/60r17 diameter to slightly offset the weight, comes out to 3 pounds and 1.1" diameter less than 235/65r17. So there's definitely a weight penalty, but it's not as extreme. It's tolerable, particularly with the 4k gearing. I was ok with it because...
The factory tires are acceptable but not good, and they come with tread depth which is equivalent to 25-50% tread wear on day one. Nothing bad about Continental, their top tier truck/suv tires are at the top of the heap in wet stopping and skidpad. I put Conti's on both my wife's primary...
I split my time between FL and a bit west of you in NC, and have been having a blast on the roads up there with the little maverick 😁
Out of curiosity, what tires do you have? I noticed a similar thing with the stock tires. When I swapped to Wildpeak Trails in 235/60 r17, it made a huge...
I'd agree with the other posters about stability in high winds. It's really solid. Better than my wife's Explorer Sport (which is really quite good). I doubt you'll find much better without going with a car.
Maybe I'm not the target audience, but I never even considered the hybrid, and would not have gotten one even if there were 50 on the local dealership lot at half the price. What mattered to me was that it was small (meaning easy to maneuver in traffic and park), handled relatively well, had...
I know we've all been replying to an old thread, but since it's a common question, hopefully it will be useful.
I think there's plenty of overlap between the two. My wife has the same perspective as Inthecabin, she likes the ranger better. In the lariat/tremor trim, it has all the gadgets she...
We currently have both a '21 ranger tremor and a '22 maverick awd 2.0 (non-fx4) with tow package. I've only towed about 2500 pounds thus far on the maverick, which sounds like what you're looking at towing.
I absolutely love the ranger. It's like an old-school f150 in terms of...
Based on your comments and the fact that you have a hybrid, I think you are trying to rigidly apply your more limited needs and life experiences to everyone else. Here are some insights that may help you:
1. Not everyone lives within 50 miles of a "service center." Cramming a full size tire...
I have to say I was completely confused as to why they added 50% (1000 miles) to the trip by sending mine to Chicago. Particularly with the diesel shortage. Glad to hear it's not necessarily a long delay.
Does anyone know what "bad ordered" means in reference to a rail car? As of yesterday the rail car was en route to Tampa with an ETA of December 10. Now CSX says the rail car number was "bad ordered" in Louisville, KY with no ETA. Anyone know what this means?
I hope they get a move on too. Mine made it to Illinois today. It seems like the last of us to squeak through the assembly line may or may not squeak through the railroad picket line before end of year.
There wasn't a way to order it this way, but I really wish I could have gotten the front tow hooks without the fx4. I wasn't willing to give up the sport mode, so I didn't get the fx4 package. But I would have happily paid the full fx4 price just to get tow hooks and nothing else.
Similarly, I...
Just wanted to say thank you for your help, and you were spot on about the build finishing this week. Modules populated today, and status updated to awaiting shipment. Thank you!
That's reassuring. No, it says module information found, but nothing shows on the as-built page, and when I download the ab file, it lists off error codes like 612, pcm data not found, etc.
Out of curiosity, any thoughts on whether any of the options could be responsible for stalling it on the assembly line? This is the list pasted from the window sticker (so sorry for the all-caps)

Thanks, it's reassuring to know nothing happened to stop the overall assembly/production that day. I'm sure it's waiting on something silly, that's just my luck. It really is difficult to understand Ford's process.
