I thought this might be neat but it's really at the limit of what you can do with the hybrid: https://aliner.com/campers/lxe/. Probably tough to keep it under 2k lbs with water, gear, etc, but at least it's got a low frontal area and is hard shell all around. Not sure if the frontal area is...
There are certainly some minor differences in terms of gearing and motor size, but they really are essentially the same: . Around 12:30 he talks about the first in house Ford version. The Aisin layout is actually licensed from Toyota who is Aisin's largest shareholder.
Correction: apparently...
I agree that the reported ecoboost highway mileage is compelling, but the hybrid isn't all new. The transmission is the same design Toyota and Ford have been doing since ~2000. The engine is more or less the same that Ford has been using since around the same time. The only new truly new...
Ford has always stated that the transmission is covered under the hybrid warranty afaik (had a plugin CMax previously). Here's a link to the Ford's 2022 warranty guide...
Wild speculation: second equal size battery could be useful for a hybrid/electric awd system. No driveshaft, just an electric motor and diff in the rear, or two motors and no diff. Second battery could be dedicated to the rear, or just give more buffer for ensuring the ability to drive the rear...
The compression ratio they list is the physical compression ratio of the cylinder. Due to the intake valves being held open well into the compression stroke, the effective compression ratio is much less. Sort of the opposite of how a turbo engine generally has a low physical cylinder compression...
I placed mine at the Wendell Ford dealer because Apex didn't know how to do it when I called, but that was a week before you. Somehow no build date for me, maybe because I have First Edition package.
