I’ve been running sunnypilot forked with the hybrid check disabled for 5k miles on a hybrid and never experienced the bug. I think the most important thing for people to remember, you have to be fully aware and immediately ready to take control, that’s for hybrid or ice or any fully supported car.

Most likely have an incorrect setting for the drive modes, I swap between normal and eco during my drive a lot. Eco when I'm driving and normal with ACC

Work on getting standard CC to work, you just have to modify the steering control to see the ACC buttons, but normal CC will work with those buttons. Also make sure that lane assist (not lane centering) is working as well.

I helped a local owner do the install on an XL without 360 and was able to get it to work, it was all done on their computer so I don't have any of the backups. I'll see if I can get in touch with them to get a copy but I know it can be done.
