I put Wildpeak ATs on my '23 Hybrid XL Maverick and have noticed that I average about 36-41mpg depending on the time of year (worse in the winter, better in summer), versus around 39-43mpg on the original stock tires for my driving habits. The mpg hit is noticeable, but the tires are pretty nice...
I went ahead and bought the best and most practical car that I could afford when I got my '23 XL Hybrid. Would I like AWD and the 4k option with a hybrid? Sure! Do I need it? Not really! Can I afford buying one of these for $30k+? Not really either!
So no buyers remorse, as cool as AWD and 4k...
I've had it on my Mav since September of last year, so as to protect my drums when traveling to a gig while still have the flexibility to remove the cover for larger items if necessary. Overall I am quite pleased with the product, as others have noted it is a tight fit on first deployment, but I...
I found a used '22 XL Hybrid with 25k miles on the clock for and bought that on July 1st, assuming I wouldn't get a '23 built. Guess I positively jinxed myself!
Now my bets are hedged, if the dealer tries any funny business with ADM, I can walk away and still have a Hybrid Mav. If I can secure...
Ordered 9/15/22 Hybrid XL Carbonized Grey + 360 Copilot, sliding rear window, tow hitch (removed on 4/11/23), 400W inverter
Order placed at Bowen Scarff Ford in Renton Washington
Assuming that this is the big scheduling round for the next month or so, I am out and moving on. I’m still going to keep the order, and see what develops, but I am assuming that I won’t get built for a ‘23. We’ll see if Ford decides to enact a rollover program, but I am not optimistic. Damn shame.
Well damn, I'm thinking I may call it on this Maverick journey if next week isn't when my build gets scheduled. Shame, I found out about hybrid Mavericks last January, and got in touch to reserve a '23 Maverick that February. So even though I have only officially been waiting since '23 order...
Bummer, but that is probably the right call for a budget minded truck. Batteries would add thousands of dollars to price and put it in a different pricing segment (look at the price difference between an escape hybrid and an escape PHEV). Hopefully for upgrades in the future, they will come out...
