please help me understand why is this drivable if exhaust heat exchanger malfunctioning? It is either open or closed position. Seems to me ONE of those positions will superheat your battery when it’s not supposed to. Am I wrong?
XLT Maverick Hybrid has been parked at Ford dealer waiting for a part since March 24. Originally serviced for same issue in Dec 22 - was a failed harness now told this heat exchanger near exhaust has issue with stuck valve.
I called Ford customer service last week and opened ticket - no...
From my understanding, the exchanger is trying to regulate heat on the battery. And right now, this regulator (the valve to open/close) is unable to close... its not a traditional fail proof thermostat but a cheap plastic switch. So it would continue to heat the battery with exhaust gases...
CEL victim here... been driving a mustang loaner for a month now waiting for the heat exchanger part. Dropped off March 23. How could they design such a large complex part with such a cheap component... disappointed in Ford.
