My OEM tires on my 2022 XLT LUX ECO AWD CP360 were unacceptable at 30,000 miles with light use. I replaced them with Defender 2 tires 10,000 miles ago and LOVE them.
Ditched Conti's @ 15,000 miles. Put on Defender 2's. I think it was worth the price. Better ride, handling, and mileage. Road trip went up to 32 mpg. Should be the last set I need for my '24 XLT.
Defender 2’s are being upgraded to Defender 3
I tried for the 2’s but they/them could only find three.
Most 2’d left are getting a little out of date,
I don’t want two year old new tires.
...is that he's conflating mild hybrids with full EVs. And if that's the case...I wouldn't listen to anything else he has to tell you.
The Defender 2 is a fantastic tire for anyone primarily interested in on-road comfort and quiet and is absolutely a top pick for Maverick owners who count...
...Maverick hybrid. service guy at dealership said I should plan on going thru a lot of tires .... I have no experience with continental tires but I used Michelin Defenders on my last 2 F150's and loved them... couldnt wear them out ... Anybody using them on their Maverick ??? thoughts on tires ??
Bought them at a dealer about 60 miles away. About 80% highway.
I always run my tires about 60% of the way between what the truck says (35psi) and the max on the tire (50psi). The tire dealer put in 35. I drove home with considerably larger and heavier tire, giving me quite a bit of a loss in...
Looking good! I was thinking about getting Michelin Defender or Cross Climate for my 23 XLT hybrid. Can you let us know how it effects gas mileage with the new tires, if at all? Thanks
I put the lighter variant on my hybrid a year ago. They come 8/32 or 11/32.
MPG is excellent. 1 MPG better than the stock tires. Smooth and quiet.
Excellent in dry and wet. I'm never below freezing so no snow or ice experience but this is probably a 3 season tire for most folks.
Can't beat the...
I can’t, I got this info from Ford when they tried to order me a set of defender 2’s.
The 2’s that are still available are showing up with only older date codes. I don’t ever want that.
She said she could still get them but it might take several days to scrounge up a set.
The big tire houses...
I tried to get defender 2’s
Only three left at the warehouse. Seems production has ended because the
Defender 3 is on the way.
I purchased Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3’s in the factory tire size, they are plenty wide enough to give me superior handling.
They are super quiet, even on the crack...
Glad to hear that the Pirelli Scorpion AS3's are treating you well. I am also eyeing the Continental TrueContact Tour 54's like you mentioned and they appear to be a strong contender to replace our OEM Michelin Primacy's. They weight in at the same 26lbs per tire as the OEM Michelin Primacy's in...
...for optimum ride comfort on our crappy city roads. I would rather be comfortable though than run excess pressure trying to eek out a fraction of an MPG on smooth roads.
Was also looking at the Conti Tour 54 or tried and true Defender, but Sam's club has the Pirelli's for a good price installed.
