Yes, I need to get the recall done as well. Really sucks that it won’t just download over the air. I don’t have time to get to a dealer to have this done.
One reminder for you on the 5x8 is that it doesn’t have integrated trailer brakes. The Mav will handle it fine but always good to remind...
From your previous posts it looks like you have an XL 2.0, but not sure if you have 4k tow or not. I’ll guess you have 4k tow and advise accordingly. The Mav will tow the 5x8 quite well as my post says. You shouldn’t have any problems in the mountains although you’ll need to adjust speed...
I’m not sure I’m following your logic.
My Maverick has the 4k towing and FX4 packages, which in those packages includes a higher capacity radiator, upgraded cooling fan, a transmission oil cooler and a trailer brake controller, not to mention towing aides like trailer sway control and the tow...
Very true. And towing experience really helps in determining what is safe or approaching unsafe for the tow vehicle. I’ve owned and towed with heavy-duty diesel pickups, full-size gas pickups and now the Maverick. My EcoBoost had plenty more to give, as you say. But that wasn’t the point of the...
In general U-Haul’s rule is that the tow vehicle has to have a curb weight at least as heavy as the unladen trailer. The 6x12 is 1,900 lbs empty, so roughly half the weight of the Maverick.
The trailer as loaded was right on the Maverick’s 4k tow spec, so it handled it fine. But I wouldn’t have...
Very true. I would put the 6x12 in the “getting stressful” category at 70 mph based on my fully loaded weight. It was never dangerous as it was perfectly level, was loaded properly including appropriate tongue weight and had no sway. And of course how you drive — leave plenty of distance to...
I just returned from a 1,700-mile trip towing two different U-Haul trailers behind my 2025 Maverick XLT EcoBoost AWD/FX4/4K Tow. Overall, the truck did great in some challenging mountainous terrain. But what struck me the most was how different the experience was between hauling a U-Haul 5x8...
Shimming the rail connection points is a great idea. My cover fits pretty good overall, but the tolerances are uneven at the side rails even after multiple attempts to fix. I will have to try a few shims and see if that helps.
Congrats. I sold a Polestar 2 EV to buy my (1st) Maverick for exactly the same reason as you. The Polestar was depreciating faster than I could make make payments on it. I figured I’d pull the rip cord, save some $$$ and jump into something that’s more useful for my needs. I’ve owned six other...
