Has anyone installed the aftermarket light wiring harness but used one of the 12 volt connections in the bed instead of running the positive wire directly to the battery?

I have a Hybrid XLT on order with a build date scheduled 3/31. Listed as in production on 3/27. Still in production on 4/5 so I called customer service to check status and was told it was at trim-line. I also received an email 4/7 stating I was scheduled for 3/27 but my order was delayed...
