You got 30 mpg because you were going 90 mph.
I got 42 mpg on my last 170 mile highway trip going 70 mph.
Normal combined in all temps is 38 mpg for me. That's over 12,500 miles directly tracked in Fuelly, again all types of driving in temps from 15* in the winter to 100* in the summer.
If you use Apple CarPlay and use the Apple Maps native app for navigation, it consumes a ton of data. I switched to Waze. Downloading the local map may reduce data usage as well, although I am not sure as you'd have to select "offline maps" somehow. Not sure if this is possible in CarPlay.
I have a 2023 hybrid w/ 12,000 on it. Mine has been pulling right since about 7,000 miles. Super annoying as I had come from a car that just could not get aligned straight, so was always pulling. So I was so looking forward to a vehicle that tracked straight.
It's disheartening to hear that the...
Just the beginning. Qatar has a plant that took a direct hit and supplies 44% of all the base stock for synthetic motor oil worldwide. This is a problem and it's only going to get worse. I bought enough to get my three cars through their oil changes through Sept 2028. I use Valvoline Restore &...
Valvoline Restore & Protect 0W-20 is hands down the best value and performing motor oil out there right now IMO.
It basically stopped the oil burning from stuck rings in my wife's 140k mile Prius which had run Mobile 1 from day one. And BITOG is full of fantastic wear numbers.
For hybrids it's...
Now, coming home. What a difference 30° makes. Coming back it was about 65° +/-, same set speed. I stopped at a rest area about 30 miles in which is why the mileage is slightly less. Calculated mph 64.8 so actually a little slower, but only because I didn't have the 30 miles of additional 70...
You drive an ecoboost, doing short hops. No wonder your mpg is 20. Many of us with hybrids get double that if not more than double in high temps even with A/C on high.
Atkinson cycle engine is far better at high temps.
If you aren't getting at or above advertised mileage the most probable issue is the driver and how they drive.
Hybrids work best when driven with energy management in mind for city driving. Slow acceleration, don't keep speed up if you see a red light, etc.
In addition, for highway driving...
Last week was same fuel from same station, same run was 38 mpg but 70*.
A/C normally pulls 1-2 amps which is 2-4 hp, as a note it takes about 40 hp to sustain 70 mph. It's a pretty small effect unless you're doing city stop/go and have it at max.
On my drive at 94* outside it was running at 2...
Your avg speed was 21.9 mph, super easy to get high MPGs are low speeds.
If you do the math on mine, I actually averaged 68.5 mph which means I was going real highway speeds the entire time.
Interesting tidbit, under inflation is actually the leading cause of failures as tires get overheated and fail.
I personally have no issue with up to max sidewall pressure since tires go on any vehicle, 35 is what Ford uses to maximize ride comfort, braking distance, and efficiency. Many years...
Yeah 45 in my garage. I notice it goes up a little on the drive. Max cold is 51 on the factory tires.
I agree, it would make an interesting test. Near as I can tell at most I'm getting a +5%-7% gain, it would be closer to 10% at 50 psi but I don't want to go that high.
It's more for...
I'm actually in central NC. When temps go up mpg does up. Last week temps in 70's, same exact drive and speed, got 38 mpg.
Outside temp was mid-90's on this drive.
