That is my understanding. So with the additional purchase, you're really just buying the later years. However, the additional coverage might cover more items than the "automatic" coverage Ford gives on every purchase. Also, it's the later years that are more likely for some problems to...
What happens to the coverage if:
1. Buyer puts in aftermarket speakers?
2. Buyer puts adhesive tape sound deadener inside doors & floor?
3. Buyer adds cruise control to an XL with Ford components?
Don't wait on that, do it now. They are busy and things take time, the older something is when it lands on a desk, the less likely it is pursued.
They won't try to make you whole on a BBB complaint, but there's a small chance a complaint to the DA has them try to cure.
Economics studies things like supply and demand for goods, but it also looks at laws & punishment. That dealer took a risk, and now they will pay for it in some form or another.

That would all be nice, I just wouldn't assume it. I can't think of any industry in history which has routinely delivered more value for less money for several decades in a row like the computer industry.
Battery chemistry hasn't had any real breakthroughs, just incremental improvements...
A Hybrid could make sense as a delivery vehicle for business, or someone who lives in a crowded city or dense suburbs. But two things make any Hybrid or EV too risky:
1) New tech that hasn't matured - particularly given the big product life cycle view. We're talking repairs, bugs, etc. Sure -...
While the vast majority of Hybrid and EV buyers probably believe they are "being good to the environment" - why are media, industry & government silent on the inevitable wave of toxic 'disposable' massive vehicle batteries?
Looking at the law (no politics)
In Canada, Trudeau had to invoke the Emergencies Act in order to direct that his opponents finances were halted. In the USA, we have The Patriot Act and it is always 'operational'. It seemed like a good idea at the time from what little we were told. hmmmm...
