  1. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

Definitely getting rid of these. Too soft for my use. SB2 is base gravel 3/4 to 1" size. Has white quarry dust in it that allows it to pack down tightly. AKA chat gravel.
  2. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

If it were my daily driver I would tolerate it but my wife ain't loving this thing being on the side of the road every 3 weeks with a flat.
  3. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

I've been looking at all of them for the last 2 days. Toyos ran pretty well on my Tacoma so I respect them. Do you know of any examples of either of those with 106+ load ratings that you'd care to share? TIA.
  4. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

I know. I didn't pick my brass up for a long time and never had one end up in a tire so I figured it was a given that a tire was a soft POS if a piece of brass pierced it. And I'm just guessing that that could have potentially flattened my tire on the first go round. I don't actually know what...
  5. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

The closest thing in the size 225/65-17 is the 107 load range BFG TA KO2 at near $300/tire. Imma try the 106H XL Nittos and will update. The Contis are 102 load range BTW.

    26.5-27 with 87octane E10. Wife's car, her driving.
  7. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

I lived in Houston in the 80s and was a gearhead. My buddies and I would go to Supershops which was a speed shop. They had all the tires on the floor in stacks and you could fondle them. It gave you a good idea about what the tread was like, compound softness etc. If I licked one I wouldn't talk...
  8. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

I love Defenders but our flint road wears them out in 20,000 miles so they are not a good value per mile per dollar for us. I have had them prorated but still end up spending a lot to have them replaced.
  9. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

It's the wife's car. If it was mine I'd take another chance but I believe these are going to give us fits on my rock road. I feel like any rock is gonna started breaking these down so I'm surprised they dont already have knots on them.
  10. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

No, I police my brass but this may have been an errant piece that I missed. Nice approach to another Maverick fan though. If you noticed I also posted about how ridiculously soft the carcass was when I plugged it which was what this post was about.
  11. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

Discount tire is gonna price match walmart on the Nittos at $157/ea
  12. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

I noticed on my Tacoma the OEM Hankook tires has 10/32" tread while buying them anywhere else they were 13/32. Same with Toyos and Firestone Destination. All 10/32".
  13. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

Our situation is worse than most. We drive 3 miles of rock road daily which carves tires up. With the county putting SB2 down on the hills that eliminated the big sharp rocks getting turned up and cutting tires so it is somewhat better however we don't get much more than 20,000 miles out of a...
  14. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

Unfortunately. Wish I had the Michelins. Ugh
  15. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

Looking at these Nittos. Load range 106 vs 102 so they should be tougher. Also 75,000 treadwear. I've never run Nitto before but like the specs. Thoughts? https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/nitto-nt421q/p/15259
  16. The Continentals are Junk: Gotta Go. 3 flats 3,000 miles

This flat sucks. And I mean flat #2 in 3,000 miles. First one was ~500 miles first thing in the morning with the wife calling me at 0600, I changed it and I looked at the hole in it. Looked like a 1/4" piece of pipe went in and out of it. It was fixed at my dealership at no charge. I came home...

Cool. I was hoping to see some reptiles in here. I have a bunch but they all live outside. This is my buddy who hung around for 7 years that I could track. I carried him away from the house when he got too close over the years. He did a good job at rodent control.
