I'm surprised the dealers got/get away with that. It seems like a clear case of fraud. I'm guessing the language in an agreement customers sign when ordering allows the dealers to claim customer ordered vehicles as their own.
I will say that dealers should be free to charge what the market...
A Google search brought up the following, which backs up what you said:
Dealers set their own prices: A dealer's franchise agreement does not prevent them from charging more than the MSRP. They consider factors like local market conditions, demand, and their own business goals when setting a...
Before the 12 hour sitting period, how far was the truck driven? If it was a short distance it may not have had a chance to charge back up to 100% SOC.
How was the 12.47V after charging determined? Charger? Meter? The meter on that 20+ y.o. charger could be inaccurate and/or the charger is...
Just to clarify, did they place an order or buy off the lot?
If they ordered, the dealer should not have charged them over MSRP.
The policy might have changed since we ordered our BS Badlands in Dec. 2021. At that time anyway, Ford dealers were not supposed to charge over MSRP, and there was...
Quote from OP:
"The design delivers on Ford’s global brand strategy by offering ways for customers to explore Ford’s exciting products while building trust and community with the dealership."
<Cough> Marketing bs <cough>...
As others have said, the only way for car dealers to build trust is...
We may have been the exception, but while the sales experience was horrible, we did get MSRP, minus the $1,000 rebate for ordering, in December 2021.
Off the lot sales were completely different. Many dealers were charging $4K to $5K over MSRP.
It may be more than people want to carry, but what about a compact floor jack? This is just an example (not necessarily a recommendation):

I used to carry a full size floor jack in my Toyota pickup when...
One way to do it would be to charge $X per kWh. That would be easy enough to do with commercial chargers -- and going forward have EVs and plug-in hybrids self-report miles traveled and/or kWh used.
Another option would be for owners to report miles traveled, which could be confirmed whenever...
I agree. IMO, phones are a good backup. They're useful when away from home, but when I'm at home (which is most of the time) I much prefer using my laptop. There's no contest -- large display, full size keyboard, etc.
BTW, I was able to post my oil change record by typing the notes on one...
