  1. Bailey Canyon Road SoCal Truck Camping

That was a real treat--thanks for sharing. (y)
  2. Do exposed connections on 12v/USB outlets = a problem? (if so, thoughts?)

Thanks for taking a look--it's good to know I'm not imagining a problem. And I like the shrink tube idea--probably going to do that, along with trying to get that gap closed, or at least filled with some sort of gasket or something.
  3. Do exposed connections on 12v/USB outlets = a problem? (if so, thoughts?)

I was thinking I'd do the Mabett panel even apart from this issue, but this moves it to the front of the line. I've gotta take a look at the back of the panel to see why it's got that gap. Could be the way I put the switches/etc. in there: some bit of their backing is interfering with that...
  4. Do exposed connections on 12v/USB outlets = a problem? (if so, thoughts?)

I followed a video (thanks Fred! :)) for installing a set of marine grade switches and outlets in the driver's side cubby, in the bed. Everything seems to work, but with the panel (with the switches/outlets added to it) back in place, there's a 1/8" gap at the top edge. Also, I don't have the...
  5. Gear shift hand rest DIY

Replying to the thread just to be sure of seeing the link to how-to.
  6. Am I really going loony? XL is talking to me…

Yeah sure, it's all nice and polite at first, but then...
  7. Hybrid popup towing report

Side topic: why is that in all the videos where some guy camps out with a tarp tent, or builds a hut with hand tools or does some other video-worthy undertaking, they have a segment where they cook up a dinner? I'm not complaining, but seems to be part of the formula. 🏕🔥👨‍🍳🥘🥓🍲🥞🤷‍♂️😋
  8. Rustling/Chirping Sound While Driving

I'm watching this thread in hopes of a general discussion of strange sounds from the engine. I can't say as I've had what you describe, but I get a sound that makes me think there a siren way off in the distance. Kept checking my mirrors for the first week or so, to see if I should pull over...
  9. Electric Maverick Coming 2027 - says Autoline [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Same--my situation is an outlier, as I have a lot of solar on the roof, so the charging would be free, or close to, most of the year. I love my Mav., so I may keep it in the end, but I leased it thinking I'd switch to a Slate when they came out...but now that seems less likely. And it didn't...
  10. Seatbelt chime now going off constantly - **UPDATE** - SOLVED

I have not--it hasn't been enough of an issue yet that I was worried about it/I didn't know there was a seat buckle replacement option.
  11. Electric Maverick Coming 2027 - says Autoline [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

I leased my Maverick thinking I'd switch over to a Slate when they're eventually available--but given the at best 'iffy' situation for EV subsidies, maybe the Slate is (also) going to be delayed or never actually happen. But if the Slate version of a cheap, EV pick-up does somehow go forward...
  12. Seatbelt chime now going off constantly - **UPDATE** - SOLVED

In my 2025 XLT that I've had for about a month now, I've twice had the seat belt sensor go off when I'm driving and buckled in. I'm not 100% certain, but I think it indicated that it was the driver's seat (I had a passenger up front at the time). Unbuckling and re-buckling(multiple times)...
  13. Any tricks to getting the dealer logo off the paint?

I had a decal on my Escape that I put on wrong and, not surprising, it soon looked pretty bad. Tried to remove it, but then saw another sticker that I liked, and that was about the same size, and voila!--now only the new sticker is visible. Kinda like when I'm not sure about how to spell a...
