I'd almost gaurantee it was the wash, and I'd also almost gaurantee that the individual that took it through the wash had absolutely no idea that anything had happened. And the "wash guy" ain't exactly high-skilled labor in most cases.

I can't speak to Ford, but I can tell you that every Chevy truck in Maine has rust bubbles above the wheel wells, UNLESS they have flairs. Haven't been watching Fords, cuz this is my first one. Ever. Except for a 66 'stang in 1972.
