And Ford also designed the hideous sound system/Sync3/Sync4/navigation/USB ports/remote start/etc... systems in the Maverick too. Mine has never worked right all the time and I doubt if it ever will. Dealer has had two chances to fix it. Even had totally blank screen at times. Still NFG.
Yeah, I agree. Does anyone really think Ford would have ponied up the money for all-new tooling for a new emblem? It sure looks the same as it has always been. Maybe the wiring is different? Who knows.
As a previous post mentioned, 148 ft/lb came right out of the published specs for a 14mm grade 10.9 bolt. That's where Ford got the number. Nobody calculated anything, obviously. It's a bolt spec. That does not mean you have to torqe it that much.
100 ft/lb seems tight enough for me. Always re-torque after 50 miles. After that, I have not any loosen one bit. And yeah, I do have a mechanical engineering degree. I have no idea how they came up with 148 ft/lb. Not necessary IMHO. (But you could safely tighten a high-strength 14mm bolt even...
It seems like just about everything has to be ordered these days. No matter what year/make/model. What exactly do the auto parts stores have on their shelves, anyways?
All models of Maverick, all years, all tire sizes, all wheel types: 147 ft/lb.
Yes, it seems a little excessive.
However, I have torqued mine to about 100 and none of them have loosened. YMMV.
Exactly. Isn't reading one of the basics we should all be able to do by 3rd grade? "Embarassing" is when most people that post on here don't seem to be able to do it!
