If you're in an area that gets decent amounts of snow in winter then I'd go for an AWD Maverick. My wife's Forester is unstoppable in the snow.

Distance to empty isn't very accurate until there's more miles on the truck and the computer learns more history of driving habits etc. I wouldn't worry about that number fluctuating.
