I had the same problem with my Demco Stay in Play Duo. It uses a air cylinder to apply the brakes. I had to buy a air pressure regulator and set it at 15 PSI, instead of the standard 60 PSI.
I have read of others who left enough slack in the cable, that it can only lightly pull on the pedal
We had it happen 3 or 4 times in our over 3000 mile trip, from NY to Miami, over to Galveston, up to Amarillo, the Pittsburgh, and back to Central NY. We disconnected at least 30 times in our trip because we only travel about 225 miles a day. It's no big deal to tip up the rear seat, pop open...
That's how it worked with me, at random times it just gives the Neutral Tow message.
I can drive it fine but not place it in Neutral Tow again.

I have towed my 2023 Maverick over 5000 miles . It has faulted out coming out of Neutral Tow after disconnecting 3 or 4 times. I just lift the battery cable for 10 minutes and it clears.
There must be a power converter that takes the high voltage and converts it to 14 volts.
Because I tow mine, it has a battery monitor on it and if I turn the key on, the battery voltage goes up without the engine running.
Had some heavy traffic in Miami and had to make a panic stop with my 2023 Maverick Hybrid XL.
Just before I hit the brakes, the dash displsy turned red, with a traffic alert message and an alarm went off.
I didn't know it was equipped with that.
