Don't be afraid of chrome. Chrome wheels always look nice on most vehicles. It's perhaps the one thing I miss about my Ram, the chrome wheels set of the metallic black paint really well. It's also nice to see them on a white Maverick, I got an idea of what mine could look like.
I wasn't...
Nice job! The blue accents pop really well against the black paint. Always a favorite combination of mine, too. The light bars are really an excellent touch too.
Sorry to hear about the incident, but as has been stated may times before, it's more important that nobody was hurt. Thankfully it looks like none of the damage is truly structural -- but time will tell as looks can be deceiving.
It is funny, though, how a Maverick can still draw interest...
They have a big issue with their CVTs also. The Forester as I was told from a coworker who had worked at a Subie dealer were pretty good, but the Outback and one or tow others had issues with them.
When I worked at a Nissan dealership, we did quite a few of them -- as most people know, CVTs...
I don't mind my Maverick, especially since I get 23 mpg in mostly stop and go traffic commuting to work. I've gone as high as 34 mpg on a couple short trips too. My biggest gripe is people riding my butt and stopping right on top of me at lights. I've been rear-ended once previously and have...
Bingo! I've said for a long time, we've been building automobiles for over 100 years, don't you think they should know by now what works and what wont? Yet we have numerous recalls to address something simple like F150 door latches which freeze due to water getting into the inner door. Just...
Worked at a Toyota dealership for a few years. What a surprise! I thought they were in competition with Ford for recalls and TSBs.
The frame issue is very real too, we replaced them on almost anything that had a frame, Tacomas, Tundras, and whatever their SUV was too -- Oh, yeah, the...
Thank you! Just trying to help out one of us ordinary folks to assure they don't get bilked by the dealership. Some go far above and beyond what is reasonable to make extra profit off of the customer. I guess the owner and upper management must need additional summer homes, have exotic cars...
**Update**
Okay. I ventured to look into the cost of a replacement transmission today. Worst case example for a "new," not remanufactured transmission was just below $3200 MSRP. Factory labor time to R&R the transmission, under 12 hours. Add to that the time to rebuild the transmission...
I haven't priced a transmission for a Maverick in a long time, so I cannot say they're full of .... but that sounds quite high. I'd love to know how they're pricing it and the labor time and rate. I suspect like most dealerships, they're using a matrix pricing system to inflate the MSRP...
I will never dispute being overly diligent when it comes to maintenance and using proven lubricants. If you've not spent additional money on an extended insurance plan, this is excellent move to protect your investment and hopefully prevent an unexpected repair.
As far as the referenced...
Interesting observation. Yes, I have noticed the "lugging" effect too. Again, interesting to see that octane has had an effect on that, but also somewhat sensible too.
As the PCM via sensors is adjusting timing along parameters programmed into the software, it is also using information from...
As with anything, there are pluses and minuses.
If your dealership is struggling to find technicians, it takes staff out of the shop to perform service outside the dealership and the staff who schedules this doesn't always realize the hardship that can create. That said, it perhaps makes it...
That sucks! Not as bad as it could be, but nonetheless, not a good thing as it ends up on your vehicles history.
I always worry about someone rear-ending me. Yeah, people who climb up my butt at lights can probably hear me cursing them out -- but I've been rear-ended before, and I've had...
I have to say, working at a dealership and seeing what comes in, or doesn't, you learn what vehicles have problems. So far I can say that I haven't seen issues which been repeated among multiple customers, and for that fact, not many issues at all.
Sure, there has been one or two Mavericks...
I found the OE Continentals to actually be pretty good in the rain, even hitting standing water. It was when we received the first two inches of snow I was glad that I was already getting the Destinations. The OEs were okay in straight line stop and go without any panic moves, but when you...
Nice set-up. I kind of regret not ordering w/the 4K tow pkg, but the reality of buying a camper and the time to use it made me not opt for it. Sadly there's fewer and fewer spots like you're enjoying that are accessible now as irresponsible people have tended to ruin for the rest of us.
That's one big reason I shied away from the more popular choice of AT tires. I knew the weight would have a more adverse effect, and I didn't want that, as increasing fuel mileage was one reason why I downsized to a Maverick.
I went with the Firestone Destination AT2(235/65R17), they're about 2...
