    A turbo engines use of higher octane is to increase boost, there is very little timing advance. If you use higher octane and put your foot in it to utilize the extra HP you will get worse MPG. If you use higher octane and leave it in eco mode and hypermile like you did on 87, no change in MPG.

    Higher octane can mean more power, especially in a turbo engine by allowing more boost. Higher octane never means more MPG. Octane has nothing to do with flash point. It the measure of resistance to detonation and nothing else.

    Ethanol does not cause turbo failures. Higher octane does not get better MPG. Ethanol free gas gets 3% better MPG.

    Common sense...of course you can exceed the payload, going 10 miles to pick up dirt and driving sedately on slower roads. Just don't hop on the Interstate and go 80.

    It includes passengers, but not fuel. A full tank of fuel is assumed in the payload.
