We're still on the fence about a rooftop tent or just a spacious ground tent; or even using the Mav for camping at all. I have the Transit(not Connect) set up as a campervan, and it would be a huge downgrade to go to a rooftop or ground tent after that.
But, your setup is what I think I'd prefer.
yes, but...
You should always do a test-run of changing the tire with the included spare, jack, and tools. Many people find out it's very difficult to accomplish with what they provide.
I recently rotated my tires, but did not follow my own advice and just used the rolling floor jacks and...
On topic;
those of us old enough to remember the gas crunch of the 1970's have seen this before. Due to economic environment in Merkuh, there is a sharp turn toward economical vehicles happening, both in initial purchase price and cost of operation.
The mfgs are scrambling to put cheaper...
even though the Mav has been on the market for years, it's still uncommon. I get asked about it in parking lots sometimes. The Compensator Truck/SUV types are usually nonplussed or mollified when I say I average 45mpg. I have yet to get a "but...but...my truck's bigger!" response. I can see the...
I have mine all the way up and the back of my left leg near the front of the seat is more than an inch above touching the seat. And I still have a fist of clearance above my head. I'm the same height.
I notice my lower back aches a bit after driving the Mav for more than 3-4 hours, where it...
Really? The whole point of the BroDozer is appearance. Most never have anything bigger than a cooler in the bed. I have a neighbor with a Raptor that will NOT take it on a dirt road, cuz, it might get dirty. Lower economic class people put a lot of emphasis on their vehicles, thinking the...
Ford usually locks up the "truck" sales in Merkuh. The Transit quickly outsold the Sprinter tenfold. Foreign brands will probably focus on a niche market rather than try to directly compete. One niche that would be very popular would be a stripped down, low cost pickup, like starting below $20k...
A quick websearch found used Murano and Rogue front seats starting at $150, but most are $300-450. Probably $200+ at a local wrecking yard.
I couldn't quickly find a spec sheet of mounting hole and base size, but my experience with car seats makes me think it wouldn't be difficult to put...
I have one of those, too! The ball fell out, but it still works. I don't like the angle of the bar, it wants to slip off the nut. I haven't gone to the trouble of bending it to more of a 90 degree yet.
I wonder how ez it would be to swap seats from one of those vehicles you find comfortable? It WOULD be ez to find some in a wrecking yard.
I agree that the seats leave a lot to be desired, but even the higher trim models are just the same seats with a different wrapping.
I find the factory...
I've learned to ditch the factory wheel wrench in favor of a breaker bar or socket wrench with extension pipe. The factory bar always seems to fit and operate poorly.
Best is to just have a whole set of mm sockets from 4-22 onboard. A cheap set from Harbor Freight is perfectly fine. The only SAE stuff on modern vehicles are the seatbelt bolts, and there is always a close enough metric equivalent socket to work (some 7/16-20 seatbelt bolts have a metric size...
He has a point. That's why I have a "real truck" for hauling 8' material, another one that is a flatbed for hauling 10' material, and another longer flatbed for hauling 12' material, and a moving van for hauling 16' material, and another moving van for hauling 24' material. As well as an older...
They really beat everyone out of the blocks.
The success of the Mav has other mfgs scrambling to put out something similar. A lot of rumors about Toyota making/bringing one of their stripped down compacts to Merkuh (Stout), but only Hyundai has something available right now, and it's too...
similar to home washer/dryers, the SCREENS are the weak point, and if the screen goes out, you can't operate anything, and they are the most expensive part to replace.
I suspect some agile-minded designer/engineer will incorporate a dual control system in vehicles where you can use the touch...
I'm a loner Dottie, a rebel.
I installed our EV charger myself, directly from the fuse box with it's own breaker.
however, it's just a 20a circuit with a regular 120vac outlet via 12g wire with a 30' +/- run.
It takes about 6-7 hours to charge our Fiat 500e from 10% to 90%, cuz, tiny battery.
The Mav as a vehicle started a whole revolution in bringing back compact pickups. But, the crazy high cost for an entry-level vehicle will be it's undoing.
As it is, $30k is high but acceptable, definitely not a "deal". When you start stacking on trim levels and options making it cost more than...
Aerodynamics are a big factor in the CAD/CAM design of vehicles.
Another factor is consumer wariness of anything that looks "different". That is one reason why pickups have looked exactly the same for the last 60 years (CyberTruck as an example to prove this wariness phenomenon).
With pickup...
