I'm new to shopping for a Mav so I could be wrong but the way I understand the AWD drive to work is mostly from a stop or if it senses slip. Otherwise if you are driving down the road at speed, you are basically in FWD...so the MPG won't be much less than a FWD. I am shopping for an AWD...

I've always bought American but it's hard to resist the longevity and reliability of Toyota. I was wondering if the Stout will actually come out or not? I'm intrigued by the rumors.

The cars you listed look too small. I did look at a Cmax before but too small. I would prefer not to buy new, but with a Maverick, it's probably cheaper to buy new.

What is everyone's thoughts on the maverick in the long term? I know it's too new to have real world results but how does everyone think it will age? I'm not so much concerned about motor/trans (I'm considering hybrid) but more about the rest of the vehicle...rust, sensors, suspension...
