My tow hitch has been used for nothing more than getting bicycles here and there locally. I was thinking of a light trailer, < less than 1000lbs for as needed local trips, not fast or far.
I guess it's a matter of "could tow" and "should tow" with considerations for...
I had a 2000 Ranger Flare Side in Red until 2012. 4WD with 4L V6 and manual transmission.
Totally reliable for over 100K miles, it would go where no one has gone before. It turned into a 2012 Canyon when Rangers were no longer available.

I had a manual shift for the first 50 years behind the wheel, when I transitioned to an automatic transmission. I didn't miss shifting one bit. After 10 years with an automatic the little dial does exactly what the letters tell me, it's easy to get to, and saves room around the shifter handle...
I've had GM bed covers, Toyota bed covers, and my Mav has a bed cover, (soft). They keep things in the bed outa' sight, mine have all done reasonably well in the rain, even heavy rain. Turn a hose or hi-pressure source on them at the car wash, they leak :(

I reset my odometer every thousand miles +/- and at 4K miles 26.7 is the low end, and 28.2 is the high end. A steady cruise at Interstate speeds, (70-80mph) I get over 28mpg burning 89 Octane Shell, Mobile, and Sunoco. 93 octane makes notta difference. Cheap gas, (which is better than walking...
