Slippery mode coast certainly does have less than ECO, which I don't get, because, as I have said, the most efficient thing to do when you want to maintain speed without apply more power, is to coast. Regen when you don't want braking is wasteful because you lose a few % in the conversion.
I...
My son in law just picked up a '13 Prius with a similar arrangement.
As with the Ford dial-a-gear, my initial reaction is WTF kinda nonsense, but after acclimating to it, I kinda like it.
Why do you hate your wheel bearings?
Will a slight offset harm them?
Not a lot, but then why bother as it would be hard to even notice.
A larger offset that is noticeable moves the center of load off to the side.
Wheel bearings aren't very happy when they have to carry a load of center...
Anyone that pollutes their Bourbon with Coke, should be flogged.
Just sayin'.
On the original topic, I did my first oil change at 5k. I was intending to keep this interval, but the more I read, the more I am considering just obeying the all knowing OLM.
I don't get why Ford insists on some level of regen in all drive modes.
Regen is great.....when braking is required. It is a loss of efficiency if all you want to do is coast.
Yeah, you can modulate the throttle in an attempt to find the spot between CHARGE and ELECTRIC following the EV COACH...
This is something I have wondered about.
As you say, with a regular ICE, the starter spins it slowly, relying on something going BANG!!!! to get the party started.
Does the hybrid engine management hold off on spark/fuel until things are spinning well enough to produce oil pressure?
I just watched a youtube video from a guy who ditched his OEM steel plate for the nice, light and ridiculously expensive Rival aluminum plate.
His rationale was that it has access panels for easy oil changes.
Yeah, it does, but seems to me it would make much more sense to just get out the jig...
I'm a Maverick newbie. Got about 5700 miles on my '25 fwd xlt .
I have averaged about 41.7 mpg over this time, which is quite good considering the large majority is highway mileage.
Something I have just started doing is making ample use of neutral when P&Ging. It seems to be giving me a bit...
WTF is Okie OD?
What exactly happens when putting it in neutral? Does it mechanically detach the motor(s) from the drive axles or does it just eliminate regen?
Can putting into neutral while rolling damage anything?
Hybrid newbie here (about 550 miles, still on first tank!).
I experienced the same thing.
The replies so far seem to imply that coasting down hill has to turn that energy into either stored battery power or spinning the engine. This is not true. You could turn it into increased speed.
IMO...
