Selling my 2023 area 51 lx with tow package. 11000 miles, hard tonneau cover, weather tech floor mats, rough country bed mat. Truck is mint. Wife needs a car and can't have 2 payments. $25k obo. Lien on truck.
Picked mav up a couple days ago. They seemed to think it was the plastic membrane in the door not being sealed properly. Mind you I gave them printed info taken directly from this site the previous 2 times I took it in for a water issue. Anyway they were confident enough they fixed it to replace...
No sunroof. Dealer said it was all set. Mentioned silicone in some areas, bla bla bla. Made them keep it through this last round of rain storms we just had. They called and said it was good after the rain. I guess they're confident they fixed it since they're also putting a new carpet in it as...
Thanks🤦. I get why they asked. My point is, I should be able to park it under Niagara falls and it shouldn't get wet inside. Either way, I got this truck in may, and it's still a problem. Definitely selling it even if they fix it.
Update. Dealer has had car since 1/2/24. First call was to tell me they've had water flowing for a while and can't replicate leak. Also asked me where/how car was usually parked. Not sure why that should matter, it shouldn't leak regardless. 2 days later a second call to tell me how much...
Well here we are again. Went to use truck after sitting for 4-5 days and noticed that all too familiar mildew smell. Maybe I've just gotten used to it. Anyway started my inspection and noticed the underside of the floor mat on the rear driver's side had some moisture on it. Checked carpet and...
If you go back a few posts, you'll see that the water was getting in through the door handle. They replaced the handle and the seals and that cured the water problem. Supposedly they pulled the sill plates and inspected as best they could without pulling the interior out and found no evidence of...
Update. Dealer had car for 5 days. Performed ionization treatment inside car then some sort of odor treatment. It's been about a week since I got car back. No musty odor but it smells like chlorine from treatment. Supposed to dissipate. We'll see.
I've been getting close to 45 without getting crazy with the babying. Pretty impressive. Not impressed with the ride quality or the wind noise with windows open. Totally unbearable. Is it worth the $26k out the door? Yeah.
Probably, but I shouldn't have to. Honestly, at this point, I want new padding and carpet because I guarantee it's full of mold underneath. But I'll let them try whatever they think will work. The extent of me doing anything to fix a brand new truck that had a factory defect was more than...
Another update. No more water as of now, but now I have an unbearable musty odor coming from the carpet on the floor where the water was leaking in. Another call to the dealer, and another day of leaving my car next Monday. I know they're just going to detail, vacuum, etc. So I'm sure this won't...
In my case, it was leaking out of the bottom of the door, between the door panel and the door itself, so it was easy to figure out it just involved only the door. If it didn't leak after last weekends torrents, it will never leak.
Update. Dealer had truck for a day and a half. Said the water was getting in from door handle. Apparently the seals were defective. Said they replaced the door handle. Day after I picked up truck we had about 8 inches of rain over 2 days. No water. I guess they fixed it this time.
Took in to dealer yesterday. They said they found something clogged with silicone preventing draining inside door and also drilled some holes in something to further prevent. Not sure what that's about. Didn't have chance to hose test but I will.
I have it. It's adequate. Definitely no bells and whistles. Seems waterproof so far. Only complaints I have are, it could be an inch longer to make fitment easier, and for whatever reason, the material on the panel closest to the rear window bubbles up slightly at highway speeds.
