The anti-gravity unit is a complete disappointment. It barely lifts the truck high enough. It's bottomed out on a few of the taller speed bumps in my neighborhood. The battery runs down after 20 miles tops. I feel like it's always on the recharge station.
Thanks Skip, Dave,
I did find and scaned the DIY HOW TO post, which is excellent. I watched a video on ForScan and read a bit about it. I'm bummed there isn't a Linux version. I hate Windows, but I do have one older laptop with Win10 that I keep for such things.
I'll probably start by playing...
My last vehicle had smart cruise control. This is the only option not available on my XLT that I actually miss. I'm wondering if it would be possible to add this. I'm sure IF I could locate a Lariat at a salvage yard I could get the sensors, mounts, wires to set it up. I'm not sure if there are...
Interesting. My Hyundai Sonata hybrid warns the driver to not run the car when it's out of fuel or damage to the hybrid system will result. Did Ford do a better engineering job, or is Hyundai covering their butt just in case....
Where i live buying it in 2 cu ft bags from Walmart was cheaper than the local places wanted for bulk. Bought 49 bags in 4 trips. Drove around the beds and dropped bags where I wanted them. No shoveling required.
I have a 25 XLT with the upgrades I wanted. I felt that going with the Lariat I was paying more for features I didn't care about. The only feature I couldn't get that I would have liked is smart cruise control. My last vehicle had it and I really liked it.
The last thing I did was to use clear silicone caulk on the front edge of the front plate. I don't like the idea of the rear tire spraying water into that gap and water running on top of the plate. I got out my can of black rustoleum to slop some paint on the two 19mm bolt heads to protect them...
The second plate attaches with 5 supplied 10mm bolts, and the second 18mm bolt behind the tailpipe that was previously removed. This plate "steps down" to allow space for the wires. While it is firmly against the wires, I have no concern. It's not moving, they're not moving. Nothing will rub...
Two 18mm bolts need to be removed that are behind the tailpipe in this photo. They are tight and I used a break bar to loosen them. The first plate uses one of these 18mm bolts (red arrow) and two 19mm bolts that are supplied. The nuts for the 19mm bolts are also supplied. They are in holders...
The second mounting bracket uses the hole made available by removing the wire support. It's attached with a 10mm bolt supplied in the kit. The 10mm bolts have a dark anti-corrosion coating.
One of the mounting brackets is attached to the frame using the 10mm bolt that was removed. Not that I put anti-seize in all the nuts / nut plates to make disassembly easier if I ever needed to remove the shield.
I installed the Mabett Underbody Cavity Shield Cover in my 2025 today. Very easy to do, and a very high quality kit!. Here is the area prior to installation. The wire support needs to be popped out and the 10mm bolt removed from the areas circled in red.
