It's not necessarily about paying for certification, it's about specific fluid viscosity behaviors.
For example a LV and a ULV transmission fluid -- neither is better or worse than the other but the transmission is configured to expect a specific viscosity from one or the other. That's part of...
The only reason, on my opinion, is that the Motorcraft filter has its bypass on the base of the filter whereas the Boss (and every other filter I've seen) have it in the dome end.
Thus if it *did* end up in a bypass condition the Motorcraft might be less likely to flow old sediment sitting down...
Oh I'm glad you reminded me about this thread.
I recently changed oil and replaced the PBL30001 with the Fram Endurance equivalent, the FE8A. The fram endurance has the same bypass pressure range as the OEM filter.
This is what I did.
Oil at 500.
Then RDU, PTU, Transmission, and motor oil at 5000.
Just clearing out the break in metals.
RDU and PTU were both underfilled from the factory.
"possible" isn't usually the operative word.
You probably shouldn't. I can't imagine that the effort, cost, and risk are less than just purchasing the factory built feature.
It is very important for you to specifically use Motorcraft Mercon ULV fluid.
ULV, not LV.
This fluid isn't expensive and can be found at any Ford dealership or even online.
It's important to use this fluid because the transmission and computer controllers rely on its specific viscosity and...
I replaced my factory skid plate with the one from Rival.
My factory plate is free, in 92612 or 92315.
I don't think it's worth shipping.
Keep in mind that the Tremor is different than the other mavericks. It won't fit on a non-Tremor afaik
Nice video, I just did this last weekend and I wish I'd had this reference.
Also, did you shoo away your geese between segments? I was like "what on earth is that sound, does it have a pet bird?" And then the geese came into the frame...
I have used it, I even measured its increased volume to prove that it can safely increase capacity to 6Qt.
However I suggest you use the Fram Endurance equivalent which has a bypass setting more aligned with the OEM filter...
I did my tremor PTU, RDU, transmission, and oil this weekend at 5k miles because I had heard about factory underfilling.
I did not measure the ATF, but I did measure the others. The RDU had a little shy of 3/4 quart, which is less than I put back in.
The PTU has under half a quart, which is...
I considered azure gray when I ordered but thought it might be too dark so I went with the standard white.
Then when I went to pick up my mav there was an azure gray one right next to it and it was really nice.
I'm happy with white, but I probably would have bought azure gray if I had seen one...
