Agreed on your first point.
And to your second point- true it requires some trust but you can calculate the trip miles with the trip MPG and with the known tank size to more or less validate it.
I once broke 700 miles on mostly city/suburban roads. I agree that going over 60MPH will start to bring your numbers down quickly.
I used no cruise control on this tank.
I've noticed this with the system clock as well. I'm not too concerned since Android Auto takes over as soon as it connects, but following to see if a solution is found.

Sometimes mine will say it can't connect so I Close the message and it connects a few seconds later.
I also have issues where it'll cut out and disconnect but have observed that these events happen in the same geographical areas. I think one strip mall in particular is using some frequencies...
