It does move some of the line locations about .150", hopefully the slack in the lines can handle it. We will see.

I just want to say I appreciate the work you are doing here, and pics/documentation of the process.

Super excited to see how the Corsair turbo works out. Solid potential for a really nice, stock looking sleeper build. Do you think with the turbo upgrade you will be approaching the limits of the fuel system?

I don't think so, at least not for 93 octane for sure. We have the same injectors as the Ranger/Explorer, and probably all other direct injected Ecoboosts.... The high pressure pump also runs at 3600psi, instead of all other's that run at 3000psi, or so I'm told by a 5 Star calibrator. Sounds like they may have revamped the pump for 2022, which is great news! Thanks for the kind words!

I agree, very interesting work. I wish you had a YouTube channel of the project. I would love to watch the process in detail. Keep moving forward and please continue to share the progress. Thanks.

I wish I would have started a YT channel 15 years ago! Sadly I'm old and busted now, with no time for it, lol....

UPDATE: The turbo is on! Took it for a drive last night after buttoning everything up and checking for leaks, feels likecthe stock turbo in light load areas, which is great! It wants to spool just like the factory turbo, too! I'm waiting to hear from 5 Star so I can get the proper updated tunes. Even my 87 octane tune should be fantastic!

Noone can tell it's not the factory turbo. Sits in there perfect! I can't wait for the upgraded tunes!

Amazing, cheering you on. It looks like one of the lines in the center section is attached to the side instead of top, 90 degrees different. LOL I'm not even sure if that's oil or coolant, but my question is the same - any issues due to that difference?

The coolant lines are attached on the "front" of the turbo. The oil feed is mounted on the "back" of the turbo, and the drain is mounted on the bottom. The locations from one turbo to the other are the same, the mounting flanges are just slightly different.

This has been one of the threads I've enjoyed so much. Very cool project and thanks for the R&D. I love the hot rodding aspect of this, not to many bolt on parts or kits available, so you borrow from the Ford product line, genius!
It blows me away that your little truck would spank my Foxbody that I've tinkered with for 25+ years, but she is still a fun ride.

alright. whatever the case, those hard lines I circled are different and the end that doesn't attach to the turbo are pretty far apart. I'm sure you know and you have a plan, but I can't see that bolting right up without more parts from a Corsair, or extending / fabricating a connection.

I am on board with this turbo swap but only once I have an issue with the stock unit. That being said you probably just extended the life of my stock turbo since now I am looking forward to the upgrade. I see some of the Corsair turbos on eBay at some pretty reasonable prices. Anything to watch out for when purchasing one of these turbos?

Oh ok, I see what you are saying. The attachment points on the block are the same for the 2.0 and 2.3 engines. So the only difference is at the turbo itself.

The top picture you have is the two coolant lines. These both have slip fit lines with rubber o-ring style fittings. Both of these lines are 2 piece, giving a little more wiggle room for adjustment.

The bottom pic is the oil feed line, and besides the bolt hole location on the turbo itself, this line bolted right up with a little persuasion.

Like I said, getting the factory lines from the Corsair 2.3 Turbo would be the best thing to do, as they would have fit the block and the turbo perfectly.

Just make sure it's for the 2.3T, because they also come in a 2.0T which would be the same as ours.

If I could do it again, I would find one with the factory oil and water lines, as that would have saved a ton of headache, and truly made it a bolt on replacement!

lol thanks for humoring me. so the turbo is rotated 180 degrees in those 2 pics. coolant in the top, oil in the bottom. you did say that a reply or two ago.

Yep, those pics are opposite sides of the center section. It gets very confusing just looking at random pics on here, lol.
