This thread is meant to chronicle the accessories I purchased for my Maverick, as well as the prices for each item, and ease of assembly or install. Also any items I may have fabricated. I am doing this because theres some folks on the forum who are not very mechanically inclined. The aim is to also show that a lot of this stuff is not very hard to do even for those who are not mechanically inclined.

Myself, I am a mechanic, and have been fixing, modifying, and fabricating things since my teens. I am 54. I am in the aviation industry as a sheetmetal structural repair technician, and also teach sheetmetal repair. I want to make each post geared towards the novice on the truck club who is not very mechanically inclined. For those of you who are mechanical you will probably appreciate the prices and where I got each item, or the method of fabrication. Theres lots to come. I have had this truck only 2 days.

Gator SFX trifold cover. About $235 purchased at Realtruck.com. price may have gone up since I ordered it a number of months ago, however this is one of the easiest things to install. No tools are required to put it on. I found that it was easiest to center it, and loosely install the forward mounting clamps to the underside of the bed rails. Then unfold the cover, and square it up on the truck bed.

Once squared up and even on both sides, tighten down the fwd mounting clamps, and attach the safety mounting clamps. Latch the spring loaded rear hooks, and it's done. It comes with some hollow weatherstripping that's peel n stick for sealing the tailgate shut when closed. I did not install this yet. Instructions werent very clear on that. The hold down clamps, and safety clamps use the pinch weld seam on the truck bed to hold it on, as well as the rear spring loaded hooks. The instruction pix are pretty clear on this aspect. It mentioned using a utility knife to cut away excess plastic for the clamps, but I found that to not be necessary.

This install took me 15-20 minutes, and was super easy to do.

Bedrug XLT carpeted bed mat. About $225 from realtruck.com. This is held in place with peel and stick velcro. It comes with prep pads for the paint so the velcro sticks really well to the paint. It comes rolled up. Best to lay it in the sun for a few hours so it flattens out before install. Instructions for this are pretty easy. Install time is about 15-20 minutes. Bedrug also has an impact mat floor liner that is held in the same way.

Center console storage bins. Amazon $20. Fantastic idea, and allows for storage on 3 levels. There is approx 2" of space in the console below the bottom drop in bin. Several sellers, probably all from same injection moulding plant in china. Several different colors of pin stripes for the rubber pads this comes with. I went with the blue. No tools required, open box, and drop in place. 1 minute open box and install

Got these custom fit trash cans from a fellow truck club member. Since these are 3D printed, and are now free on thingiverse for anybody who wants them, the price will vary if you have to pay someone to print them for you. The rear trash can/cup holder is a collaboration between he and I designing it. This is perfect for XL owners that dont have that setup in the rear seat. No tools, drop in place/done. 1 minute install

Weathertech drop in floor liners. Self explanatory about $200 direct from Weathertech. These have better coverage than the factory drop in liners. More time to open the box than to install lol.

Again since this thread is supposed to help those newbies who want to do some DIY but are afraid to tackle this stuff, heres the tutorial on the LED lighting. The point of the LEDs are 2 fold. 1 they last the life of the vehicle. Swap em in now while it's new and not filthy where the sockets are, and 2 these things are effing bright. It's the usual cost stuff from Lasfit, and exotic tech. The multi flash 3rd brakelight LEDs I got from exotic tech on evilbay for $16. The rest was from from Lasfit. They have a complete maverick LED kit for a little over $200.

First up the lighting on the back of the cab. If you dont have torx screwdrivers, no biggie, the screws have slots for a standard blade type screwdriver. Remove all 4 screws, pull the light off the back of the cab. The light sockets are a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull out arrangement. Pull the bulbs straight out of the sockets, push in the LED replacements. Then reinstall the sockets to the light fixture opposite of removal, ditto for the screws. The fixture has 2 tabs that fit into holes in the cab sheetmetal. Should take no longer than 15-20 minutes. Prices for the red, and white LEDs to do this are about $18 per pair X 2 pairs. One clear, one red. All this lighting is 12V. It's not going to hurt you at all.

The next one is the turn signal LEDs. I chose the Lasfit switchbacks. I like them lit up white like DRL lamps. Skill level super easy. These use the 1/4 turn twist counter clockwise to remove sockets, and push in bulbs. In the pic these are really easy to get to behind the headlights. These were about $40 for the pair.

The front side turn signal LEDs from Lasfit were about $19 for the pair I think. These were a bit tougher. Well the drivers side was that is. Same push in bulbs, and 1/4 turn twist sockets.

Passenger or R/H side was easy. Remove the 4 inner fenderwell push pins carefully prying up the center buttons with a small screwdriver, then remove the pins. Pull the liner back, and slide your hand in. 1/4 turn counter clockwise to remove the bulb socket from the lens. Swap the bulb for the LED, reverse order of dissassembly. Push the pins back in.

Drivers or LH side was a bit more involved. Cant get your hand in through the fender liner like the passenger side. Also pull out these 4 push pins. And get an 8mm socket and ratchet. The small splash deflector attached below the wheel liner with the push pins needs to be removed remove all the 8mm bolts holding it on, and squeeze your hand way up in there to remove the socket. I pulled the wiring socket far enough down to install the LED in the socket thru the hole in the bottom of the air dam. Assembly is reverse of dissassembly. There may be an easier way with just popping the lens out the bumper cover, but I was not taking a chance prying against the paint on the cover.

Taillights and reverse lights. Skill level fairly easy. You need a 10mm socket, and ratchet. Each taillight is held on with 2 bolts with cross point screwdriver centers accessed inside the tailgate jamb area. You remove those 2 bolts. Angle the taillight out to the side slightly, and pull back to pop the light out at the front. There are 2 pins that hold these in at the front. The bulbs are the push in and pull to remove, with usual push n twist sockets for the lenses. Assembly is in reverse of removal. I used lasfit LEDs. Requires 2 pairs of taillight LEDs at $49 per pair, and one pair of reverse light LEDs $49. Again if you plan on doing all LEDs , Lasfit sells every LED to convert your maverick XL or XLT in a one price convenient kit, or buy as you go and can afford.

Custom wheels or alloy wheels in general. I have had water get between rims and brake rotors and damn near corrode these parts together to where you cannot remove the wheel from the vehicle. I am installing custom wheels, however anybody installing aluminum wheels should do this.

Brush anti seize compound on the rotor mating flanges so if moisture gets between the rim flange and the rotor, you can still get them apart. My aftermarket rims use aluminum hubcentric rings. I buttered these up with permatex antiseize as well. Truck needs a 3" lowering job now to ditch the 4x4 look.

Rims are Circuit performance CP30 18x8.5 with a 35mm offset. Tires are 245-55R18. Same outer diameter as stock.
