I will go back to NWOH soon to a 24 XLT hybrid, with a full tank of treated gas. That should last me 4-6 weeks of mixed driving. I would expect gasoline prices to drop back considerably by then.

2024 Lariat Hybrid driving in normal mode with low engaged (recently started doing this and it has helped). I'm getting 40-41 mpg commuting about 95 miles a day mostly highway with a mix of crap traffic in the middle. I'm either doing 75-80 or 0-10 mph (that's the crap traffic for about 10 miles each way in the middle). When I get lucky and have no traffic, I average 39 running 75-80 mph most of the way. It does get a little better if I use the adaptive cruise control. I normally don't trust Virginia drivers to not do something stupid in front of me, so I rarely use ACC during my commute. I fill up every Thursday when my favorite Shell station has 5 cents off and that typically gets me through the whole week. I have noticed that when my (still factory at 52k) 12V battery gets low my mileage gets worse. I have a Noco Genius 5 mounted under my hood and plug it in on the weekends.

I hope so, but if the Strait of Hormuz is still closed??

I am very pleased with my fuel economy with my hybrid....some highway speeds and some mixed suburban driving...

Just curious with the above comment and using Low mode, with potentially very heavy regen braking with no brake light on.

Do you trust them more behind you?

Interesting observation on 12VB, and nice keeping it going so long!
You'll probably get normal expected life out of it.

i can appreciate trying to see how many miles one can get on a tankful, but that is cutting it too close. It is not good to run modern engines out of gas. It can really do damage to the fuel pump in the tank which needs gas for cooling. It is always best to fill up at 1/4 tank to maintain good cooling. Your truck, your fuel pump. Enjoy your Maverick.

My commute in my 24 2wd hybrid is about 11 miles, only one of those is electric. I am usually getting anywhere from 34-36 MPG, sometimes less depending on the weather. I never get anywhere near what other people brag about online. I have been getting about 440 miles per tank if I'm lucky.

There is still likely close to a gallon of gas left in the tank when DTE shows 0.

Do you feel that the one gallon of gas is sufficient to cool that fuel pump? Not trying to beat a dead horse or bust your chops, its just I am anal as all hell and worry about things like this.

The fuel pump in the hybrid isn't working very hard, it's a low pressure pump and not in use constantly. The manual has a warning to avoid running out of fuel under the catalytic converter section, but doesn't mention the fuel pump.
https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...ingEnabled=False&userMarket=usa&buildtype=web

It does mention the fuel reserve however:
https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...ingEnabled=False&userMarket=usa&buildtype=web

In addition, the fuel tank contains an empty reserve. The empty reserve is an unspecified amount of fuel that remains in the fuel tank when the fuel gauge indicates empty.
And it warns to not overfill the tank. Still I agree with you that running it down to 0 isn't a great idea... but I don't forsee the fuel pump being an issue with that.
