ALL of the family logging company pickups over the last 40 years have had to go in for warranty repair multiple times, My Transit(not Connect) has had to go in a few times. Still, they are best for the $ despite being unreliable.
Which is why my last two new cars have been Fords.
I don't think there IS one. Not when you compare income to price ratio in 2026. And the Mav just got several thou more expensive. The Mav would be the closest thing that I can think of, though. That Slate will be over $35-40k by the time it hits the market, and it's the size and utility of a go...
Overall new purchase cost ($27k in my case)
Operation economy (I get about 45mpg since purchase)
So basically, because it's cheap.
I'm probably not a typical Merkun car consumer.
I still have my Transit 250 (not Connect) for heavy hauling and as a campervan. The Mav fits all my needs other...
I just finished my quarterly wash. Also washed the 500e while I was at it. Left the T250 alone because I didn't want to pull out the ladder to do the top.
XL mainly because the price bumps for other trim levels are totally not worth it. From XL to XLT it's mainly just rims, that don't do anything better than the XL rims. All trim levels are basically the same exact pickup, but with different decorations.
I bought mine under the "employee pricing" last year. I think it's 5% below MSRP. At the time, dealerships were selling for MORE than MSRP, so it was a good relative deal. New Hybrid XL for under $27k out the door. This was at a known predatory dealership in Beaverton OR (Dammerow) that at the...
I have averaged right at 45mpg for the last year/20k miles with my hybrid. Probably 60/40 city/highway driving. I don't try to "hypermile" much, and on the 500 miles drive days to Oregon will go 70-80mph most of the way, traffic allowing. That drops it down to about 38-40mpg for those trips...
my trophy fake-wife has a '15 Fiat 500e. She bought it maybe 6-7 years ago for $7500 with 35k miles. Now has about 55k.
It's excellent if you live in town and charge at home, even though it has a stated 80 mile range. It gets charged about once a week because it's only used for local running...
I don't know about the ecoboost version in the Mav, but the 3.5l ecoboost in the Transit(not Connect) is well-known to have failures and maintenance problems, mainly due to the heat generated. A lot of warped exhaust manifolds as well as fried turbos. At some point will figure out how to have...
