As for my 2023 mav hybrid XLT
When the SOC reached over 91% the charging voltage dropped to 12.8 but when the SOC dropped down to less than 89% the charging voltage jumped back up to 14.X volts.
And a bunch of charging takes place.
As for what you said the dc/dc converter shut off, from what I...
Well there is 36 pages about this issue.
It now looks like one of the main issues is the charging voltage.
We know what the charging voltage is. (15.X).
But I have not seen what the floating voltage SHOULD be?
We see what the floating voltage is when it reaches over 91%, and it 12.8V
It looks...
it could be true ford has a solution to the battery drain, but I think there keeping the whole problem a secret.
They don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, and say they have a problem with a number of maverick hybrids that they are unsure how to fix the issue.
That will hamper sales.
They...
My shunt is between where the ground connected to the body ground.
i could have charged the extra battery through a diode, but didn't want to mess up the BMS calculations for the SOC, that is all ready messed up system.
That looks like way too much work, I have a easier way.
I just look through the window.
And by the way, the WonVon unit is powered from a separate battery.
That’s good and bad, the good is that it’s charging the battery, the bad is that it’s charging the battery and never stops even when the battery is fully charged , and now it’s over charging the battery.
I would have no problem thanking Ford for there due diligence if or when I hear from Ford or one of there representatives saying,: we have seen on some ford mav hybrids that the charging system is not charging to the correct voltage when the SOC reaches over 90%.
And here is what we are going...
Correct,
Ford knows of the draws from the controllers, and came up with a fix for them, weather they work is another story.
But we have not heard Ford talking about when the SOC goes over 91% (like on my mav hybrid) and changes to 12.8 volts.
That is way to low for a floating charge for AMG or...
Hello Mike
Thank you for chiming in.
With the SOC so low, the charging stays at 14.8+- volts no matter what I turn on or off.
it never changes to floating charge.
Nope, I am not doing any external charging.
What I noticed on my test deep cycle battery was after a 15 minute drive to work, I was...
Nice write up rslilly76
and great background about the system from years back until now.
One thing to note.
There has been issues with the parasitic draw from control modules.
There has been issues with batteries.
But there is a big problem with how Ford decided how to charge the battery...
From what I have found on my 23 mav hybrid, the only thing to trigger charging was to turn cabin fan above 5.
No other 12 battery loads would trigger charging.
lights, heated seat, heated steering wheel, wipers, windows would not trigger charging.
Nice write up, that is the same thing I found out last year when I was doing 12v battery testing.
But I can add to the info.
When the 12V battery SOC reaches 91% that is when it switches to 12.8 volts.
When you force the system to charge to 15.X volts:,
the voltage will stay at that voltage no...
