I did just about the same thing in my Kia Soul. Kept hearing a rattle in the dash till a friend pointed out it was my readers bouncing around in the glasses holder above the mirror!

So I'm trying to figure out this dash noise and I think I've got some of it figured out, at least for now. I've been putting strips of moleskin in parts where I feel the plastic is rubbing up against each other. So far it's been working. I'll update if the noise continues.
