I have a 24 base level Maverick and have had the droaning noise since the truck was new. I did notice that in sports mode it is reduced . I am a retired Toyota tech and we had a similar issue with the Rav 4 that required replacement of the magnetic clutch assembly on the transaxle assemblies...
