I thought the positive connection under the hood is to the starting battery, not the Hybrid battery.

I would order it from Ford, it is a Dealer installed ACCESSORY. If your dealer won't program it, I would report them to FORD. My dealer programmed mine for free.

What was your mileage before installing this? I have a 25' AWD Lariat with 4k and I only get 27.4mpg at 75mph. 25 mpg at 90mph sound good to me!
