Maverick Old Farts

If you consider yourself an "Old Fart" your in.
Just bought a new 26 Maverick Lariat Hybrid for my wife and to replace our old but trusty 98 Tacoma. It is Azure Gray with the smoke truffle interior. Very nice vehicle. Still trying to figure out all the gadgets and whatnot on it. Once the XM trial expires, we will go back to the USB drive to listen to oldies and Johnny Dollar and other old radio programs. This is my first Ford since a Ford Tempo from the early 80s.

Welcome, if you have a lariat you might have digital radio, check out the off stations and you might find a good oldies station, I did in StL. I never cared for Sirius/xm.

Out here in W. Texas we have a very limited selection of stations. The better oldies stations are 200+ miles away--El Paso or San Antonio. Too many don't play oldies (50s-60s and a smattering of early early 70s) and the reception is very poor. We have an AM station here in our little town that can barely be picked up. I used to have XM for the 50s, 60s, old radio and willies road house and that was it. But the amount of time we spent in the car or even listening at home did not justify the cost so we cut it out. My usb drive has about a 1000 + oldies (old country, too) that I play all the time and try to update occasionally.

I will give it a try on those off air stations--might find an oldies station.

I never use the radio…”Hey Siri!!..”

I use my usb drive for music unless I am in an area that has a good oldies station. No social media, no siri, no alexa either.

I'll admit that I've kept the XM subscription up. I like it, especially The Beatles Channel... yeah, I know, it shows my age. Stand your ground w/ XM when it comes time to renew and eventually you can talk them down to a reasonable rate.

I did have XM for a long time until the prices became a little outrageous for the amount of time spent in the car or traveling. We listened to 50s, 60s, Willie's Roadhouse, and the old radio programs. I do have a pretty good collection of oldies (Beatles, too), and I am always on the lookout for more--especially the ones you don't hear very often on the radio, such as Helen Shapiro. There are a lot of oldies out there that don't get much air time. I would not mind finding a reasonable rate for XM again, but haven't gotten around to it.
