Just got my 2023 Maverick back from Miracle Shield rust proofing, they always do a good job and have a lifetime warranty. I think this was the first Maverick they serviced.

Roughly how much did this cost, and what's the general consensus on how much this helps in the long run?

It costs about $400 and they do a free inspection once a year for the next 5 years , anything found during the inspection is touched up or repaired for free. After 5 years the inspection cost is $80 and touch up and repairs are still free. They have a life time warranty but you have to make sure you do the yearly inspections to keep it up. I have other family members that have used them for years with no complaints. I had a 2011 Ford Ranger rust proofed at the Ford dealership they charged $800 and had only a 7 year warranty against rust thru.

@Superdog3657 Do you know if they removed all your plastic covers, shields, wheel well covers, etc underneath when they sprayed it or was it just spaying over them?

There is no spray on the wheel well covers or shields that I can see.

@Superdog3657 Wondering if they'll remove those and spray underneath or just skip those parts. I appreciate you answering as undercoating on modern cars seems to be a real divisive issue. Do you happen to know if the undercoat is hard or still somewhat pliable? I hear the issue with some undercoats like the Zibart stuff is they're too solid and tend to crack, trapping moisture.

I was on the fence about either using Miracle Shield or use one of the lanolin based coatings that must be applied yearly . While doing a Brake Job on my wifes 2019 Escape which was rust proofed by Miracle Shield, I noticed some rust on some of the mounting hardware for the brakes and shocks ect, the chassis looked great though which is what they warranty. I decided to spray Fluid Film on the parts not covered by Miracle Shield . I have used Fluid Film over the years for automotive and lawn mowers and it works well and its safe for electrical connections as well, but you have to apply it yearly and at 67 years old I don't want to crawl under my Maverick and spray the entire under body, so I decided go with Miracle Shield and their Life Time warranty and free yearly inspections, and still use Fluid Film on nuts , bolts , springs ect. Living in the rust belt you have to take preventive measures if you plan to keep your vehicle for 10 years or better as I typically do.

@Superdog3657 I'm kind of leaning towards using the local Krown's service. It's $159 and only lasts a year, but with all the debate over rust proofing I'm not sure if something that will go away over time isn't a feature versus a weakness.

I don't know, I just kind of worry that something permanent will just end up trapping water in its cracks and causing more rust than nothing at all.

I wish Miracle Shield had some photos of their work to get a better feel for whether it's the right path.

There seems to be no perfect answer either way.
