Maverick Old Farts

If you consider yourself an "Old Fart" your in.
AL-Tess
I was visiting Phoenix, AZ. last week, and a family member invited me to an old time soda fountain.
Mc Alpine’s on 7th.
What was at the cash register?
Candy Cigarettes!
I used to love those, mostly cause it drove my elderly female relatives right up the wall.
I would show you a pack but I consumed the two I bought. 😁

What was a candy you used to love but you can’t find anymore?

Smoked a lot of those candy cigarettes and also the bubble gum cigars. Haven't seen a "Slow Poke" since the 60's maybe? Are Butterfinger bars still around?

Gosh, I remember the candy cigarettes and the bubble gum cigars, they were yellow and green if I remember right. The gum was pretty bad though, like baseball card gum. Loved Slo Poke's and Butterfingers are still around. I liked Mary Janes and Squirrel Nut Zippers.

I've been googling for an hour trying to find the name of those little cellophane wrapped white rectangles with tan stripes that crunched like a butterfinger and I think they were pecan flavored maybe and may have been made by Tom's. You can still find them in old timey candy stores in bulk. Bit-O-Honey is another one I love.

Man, you guys are taking me down memory lane, Bit-O-Honey were great. I remember those cellophane wrapped Butterfinger like candies. I remember when I was really little someone on our block had a late model Packard Hawk, one of the Packardbakers and I thought it was such a cool car, different to anything else I had seen.

@TheShark Still buy those on occasion. One of my favorites-just like chick o stick. Have to avoid bit o honey though as they like to pull off my crowns and things like that.

I too smoke a lot of those candy cigs and gum cigars. Remember candy Buttons, bottle caps (rootbeer was my fav), zotz, necco waffles (chocolate was my fav), I think Charleston Chews were the best. Boston Bake beans were second.

How would you like to see my Wallnetto?
ToyoFord70
Walnettos (Want a walnetto?) Used to get them for a penny at the theater.
ToyoFord70
Teaberry Gum and Reed's hard candy in a roll--cinnamon, butterscotch. NECCOS are hard to find but sometimes Tractor supply and a dollar store might have them.

Mallo cups were big in NC back in the day...Marshmallow center of a milk chocolate cover.
ToyoFord70
Growing up in the grocery business I saw a lot of that stuff.
ToyoFord70
Every once in a great while someone will have the clove gum, blackjack--usually I see it at Christmas when they mail out all those catalogues from those companies that sell all the meats and cheeses and all that good stuff. Used to like the Look and Big Hunk but they are now a little rough on the old teeth. I think another was the Cherry A Let (?). That was a good little candy bar.
ToyoFord70
Ferrara Red Hots were another good item for us kids back then.
