Larry, W8LM here. I just bought a 2024 Maverick Hybrid off a Dealer's lot in Detroit. Drove it back to Wichita, Kansas. I did connect via the internet. Found after I bought the car, the wifi hot spot they claim on the factory sticker is not actually in the truck because of a chip shortage. I am getting no answers from Ford as to will they make the specification good. I have complained to the FTA. and probably will also go to consumer protection of my state. My last car, which I used for 11 years till I retired had an ICOM 7000 DC to Light Transceiver in it.
I have not decided if I am going o re-install that in the Maverick, or just go another route. I was going o start wth the wifi hot spot, a Open spot 2 and a digital HT..
I know I have seen a rear center tail light antenna mount. I'm going to look into the Larsen. I also saw a Ford F150 the other day, with a LED emergency light sitting on top of the rear center tail light.
I have only 2244 miles on the truck I have not checked out the HF noise from it. I had a Hyunda Hybrid when they 1st came out, but got rid of it because HF noise was 30 over S9. as soon as you turned on the key. Got rid of that car, plus it didn't get 40mpg like I get in my Maverick.
That last car I had HF in was a mercedes and there was NO RFI.. Those Germans know how to suppress all the noise. DC to light. Before retiring I'd travel 20 states per year, so HF in the car was a thing for me. Now retired, I still have my closest relative over 1000 miles away, so visiting means road trip and HF..
