Jim in Waco WB5OXQ . I am happy to report i made a few contacts on 20 meters tonight with my new installation in the Maverick. Compared to the installation in A Santa Cruz I previously owned the electrical noise in the Ford is much lower. So low you almost don't need the noise blanker. With no signal coming in on the antenna I can barely notice electrical noise from plugs or injectors with the blanker off. Any readable signal completely covers the noise. Thanks Ford for building such a quiet truck. Mobile HF is going to be a real pleasure. I did upon suggestion install 7 clamp on ferrite suppressers on the coax at the antenna end. This is supposed to reduce current on the outside of the cable.

Any pictures? I plan on a 10 meter install myself, seems plenty of room in the cab just pondering antenna options, not a big magnet fan. The ferrite works great, as a low budget alternative you can coil the coax several turns at the antenna and secure the loop with tape. This also "chokes off" any stray current before it reaches the rig.

Interested in how you mounted antenna and how you routed coax into cab.

I'm in the planning stage - Two questions that have come to mind - Routing coax from the bed area into the cab? if the antenna is mounted in the left rear corner how do I get it into the cab behind the back seat? The second is - all the electronics behind the back seat. A black plastic box on the left side of the rear cab wall, what is in it? The diecast aluminum box on the right side rear cab wall, that gets warm, what is in it? Will either be affected by 100w from a HF radio mounted below the rear seat on the left side? Thanks KG5UMH
