Anyone else do the under-hood LED lights? My next project on Cody. Will have to check back in with how it goes. Was thinking would be a neat / fun project get-together idea. Buy the stuff, then do the mod on all the Indy Mavericks at a meet-up. Thoughts?

I also like the idea of a local mod day.

Well, I pulled and installed the LED marker lights (easy peasy). Decided to install the hood start-scan lights wiring into the DRL (yellow) headlight point. Love/hate it. Problem is that those lights, they come on during unlock/door open. They go OFF when you turn the key to start engine (on Hybrid anyway, can't confirm for EB). I really want them to stay ON all the time the headlights are on. So...I'll be removing the wiring and wiring them into the Marker light (on all the time, which is the behavior I want anyway). Will update, maybe post video.

As far as Mods go we could do at a meetup...HELL YEAH. All you need is:
1. Pry tool + Painters tape
2. Heat gun
3. Wire splices for 18-22 ga wire
4. Wire strippers/snips
5. (optional) ISO wipes to really clean the area the LED strip is going to adhease to.
6. About 30 minutes total in time, estimate.

the items I went with:
1. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B9WHXVY

Hey, wanted to update this for you guys/gals. Rewired into the driver-side marker light. Replaced the LEDs as the "these might work" LEDs started flaking out randomly on me. Very happy to do real auto-grade heat-splices into those lines. Fit was really perfect and very happy with it.

All that said. The LED light bar looks amazing...when the headlights are actually on. So, now the behavior is:
On when unlock from FOB.
When startup, if truly dark (when on AUTO lights) they stay on and I'm happy.
When startup, if daytime they go back off; they are not wired into the DRL themselves, and I guess the marker lights only stay powered when the switch is in ON position, or the daylight sensor reports it's dark out.

Will post some pictures, but looks really amazing at night or if I just switch the lights to ON.

Another comment. Best way I've found to pop the maker lights:
1. Painters tape under back edge (tucked into crease), couple pieces.
2. Electrical tape, 1 piece over the top of painters tape.
3. 2.5-3.5" pocket knife blade. Actually had MUCH easier time getting purchase enough to "push" the maker light foward while creating the wedge to bring it out. Tiny pry bar just had too much bend and wants to push out and not forward at the same time.

Anyway, 2nd time pulling the maker lights out for LEDs was super easy.

Also, instead of coat hanger (from only video I found about doing the lightbar) I used a small cardboard tube. Felt much better about jamming that through the engine bay from the maker light recess. Then feed wire from LED bar down that easily.
